DAMPAK JATUHAN DEBU PABRIK
SEMEN TERHADAP HEWAN
TANAH
Abstrak
Perkembangan industri yang cepat merupakan salah
satu penyebab pencemaran. Limbah industri tersebar dan
mencemari lingkungan sekitarnya.
Pengaruh
jatuhan debu pabrik semen terhadap hewan tanah ditentukan
atas dasar kepadatan, struktur komunitas dan fluktuasi
bulanan.
Dari penelitian ini didapat hasil sebagai berikut:
Jatuhan debu pabrik semen menyebabkan berubahnya
pabrik. Jatuhan debu pabrik semen berkorelasi positip
dengan pH tanah, sedangkan dengan kadar organik tanah
berkorelasi negatip. Suhu dan kadar air tanah tidak ber-
korelasi dengan jatuhan debu pabrik semen tetapi berkore-
lasi erat dengan kadar organik tanah. Jatuhan debu pabrik
semen menyebabkan berubahnya kepadatan, struktur komunitas
dan f1uktuasi bulanan hewan permukaan dan hewan dalam
tanah. Orthoptera yang merupakan hewan permukaan tanah, k
epadatannya tinggi pada daerah yang terkontaminasi (
Indarung) dibandingkan dengan daerah kontrol (Limau Manis)
, tetapi pada Collembola, Acarina dan kelompok hewan
permukaan tanah lainnya tidak terlihat perbedaan yang
berarti.
jenis Lasius, Acarina famili Galumnidae, Orthoptera jenis
Laxoblemus, Cvcloptilua dan Myrmecophilinar 6 tinggi
dibandingkan dengan yang dari daerah kontrol. Dari indeks
kesamaannya terlihat bahwa hewan permukaan tanah antar
lokasi berbeda strukturnya.Urutan masing-masing kelompok
hewan tanah berbeda nyata antar lokasi. Kepadatan dan
frekuensi kehadiran cacing tanah Pontoscolex corethrurua (
Fr.Mull) menurun dengan semakin dekatnya lokasi dengan
pabrik.
tanah.
Abstract
Rapid industrialization is one of the commonest
sources of pollution. The waste materials of industry
pollute the environmental component, where they are dis-
charged. Cement dust contamination is a localized air
pollution problem in the vicinity of a cement factory,
and frequently causes changes in the character of vegeta-
tion and soil, which may be followed by changes in the
overall density and community structure of soil animals.
This study evaluated the impact of cement dust on soil
animals, and was undertaken around the Indarung Cement
Factory, Padang, West Sumatera. The sample of soil
animals were collected from the sites Limau Manis, Sungai
Gayo, Ketaping, Ambacang and Indarung, which were located
at distances of 3600, 2650, 2000, 1300 and 700 metres,
respectively, in the northwest direction of the cement
factory. Three methods of collection were used in this
study, pit-fall trap for surface dwelling animals,
Barlese-Tullgren funnel for in soil animals, and hand
sorting method for earthworms. Sampling was carried
out from March 1983 to February 1984 for surface dwelling
animals and earthworms, and from May 1985 to December
1985 for in soil dwelling animals. The effect of the
cement dust fall on soil animals were estimated in
terms of population density, community structure and
fluctuation.
The study showed the following results:
The dust cement fall on soil decreased with
increasing distance from the factory and changes the soi
l"s physico-chemical properties. The pH and organic
content of soil correlated positively and negatively with
the dust cement fall, respectively. The temperature and
water content of soil showed no correlation with the
cement dust fall, but correlated with the soil organic
content. The cement dust fall causes changes in the
density, community structure and fluctuation of surface
dwelling and in soil animals. On the surface dwelling
animals, the density of Orthoptera was significantly
higher in the contaminated site (Indarung) than in the
control site (Limau Manis), whereas such differences in
number were not observed in Collembola, Acarina and
others. The density of in soil animals increased with
de-creasing distance from the factory up to Ketaping
followed by a decreaed in Indarung. The density of
Acarina was significantly higher in Ketaping than Limau
Manis, Ambacang and Indarung, but not significantly higher
than and, Sungai Gayo. The Hymenoptera, Diptera, Collembola
and other arthropods density were significantly higher
in Ketaping than the other sites, but the other insects
were not.
Community structure of the surface dwelling and in
soil animal was compared between the five sites in terms
of relative density, frequency of occurance, similarity
and diversity. Changes in community structure were
apparent
in differences in relative density, frequency of occur-
ance and similarity index, but not in diversity. On the
surface dwelling animals, the rank of family sequence of
Acarina and subfamily sequence of Orthoptera from the
control site Limau Manis did not correlate with the
contaminated site Ambacang and Indarung. The frequency of
occurance of The Collembola Folsomia, Lepidocyrtus, and
Homidia, The Hymenoptera Bothooponera, Cardiocondyla, and
Pheidole sp2, and The Acarina Oribatellidae and Per-
lohmanidae decreased at the contaminated site, but The
Hymenoptera Lasius, The Acarina Galumnidae, The Ortho-
ptera Baxablemnus, Cycloptilum and Myrmecophilinae 6
increased. The similarity index of the surface dwelling
animals showed differences in structure community accord-
ing to the locations. On in soil animals, the rank of
all groups sequences of all site were not signifincatly
corellated to each other. The frequency of occurance of
The Acarina Perlohmanidae and Macrochellidae decreased
in the contaminated area. The pattern of seasonal changes
in the number of in soil animal groups at all sites was
different.
abstract
The density and frequency of occurance of the earth
-worm Pontoscolex corethrurus (Fr.Mull) decreased with de
-creasing distance from the factory. The constancy of this
soil animal was absolute on the control site Limau Manis
but in the contaminated site Ambacang and Indarung was
accidental. The impact of the dust cement factory on this
earthworm is not direct, but occurs through the changes
of pH and organic content of soil. Its fluctuation also
differed according to the location of study. The cement
dust effect on the earthworm Pontoscolex corethrurus (
Fr.Mull) was specifically observed in the laboratory in
search for a soil animals which may be used to monitor
the cement dust contamination on soil. The response of
the earthworm populations was shown by de-crease in
natality and an increase in mortality with increasing
concentration of the cement dust. These studies
indicated that Pontoscolex corethrurus (Fr.Mull) can be a
suitable biomonitoring tool to assess the impact of
cement dust on soil.
