Demo Device Mirroring Guide

Guide for configuring your device and laptop so you can show your device on your computer screen without a camera.

Instructions for:

AirPlay for iOS

Quicktime for iOS

Mobizen for Android

VMware Fusion for Mac OSX

Project My Screen for Windows Phone

Before you demo to a prospect:

Ensure you have all the below requirements installed on your computer for mirroring your demo device

Practice your entire demo including switching between your PowerPoint presentation, console and/or demo

device to ensure smooth transitions



Improved iOS Demos with AirPlay

Requirements:

Supported devices: iPhone 4S+, iPod touch 5+, iPad mini (all), iPad 2nd generation+

Mac: Mountain Lion or Mavericks

AirServer installed on Mac

Setup Download and install AirServer. Free Trial available for 7 days; after which a consumer license will need to be

purchased for continued use. You will be emailed a link to obtain a Trial activation code for use. Click the link in the email to open a web page displaying the activation code and input it into AirServer the first time it’s opened.

o Note: To run the AirPlay application the first time, you will likely have to use “Control + click” then select Open in order to use the application as it was not obtained from the Mac store.

Enable Bluetooth on Mac from System Preferences (take note of discoverable name)

Enable Bluetooth on iOS device and connect to your Mac

Swipe up from the bottom of the screen on your iOS device to open the Control Center and enable your Mac as

the AirPlay destination. Toggle on mirroring to mirror the device screen on your computer

iOS Demos with Quicktime

Requirements: Mac - OS X Yosemite

iOS Device - iOS 8+

Quicktime installed on Mac

USB cable

Setup: Connect iOS device to Mac via USB cable

If prompted, accept the notification to “Trust” the connection between the iOS device and Mac

Launch Quicktime on Mac and select “New Movie Recording” by double clicking on the icon in the dock or from

Quicktime / File.

Select your iOS device from the dropdown inside the Quicktime player to begin device mirroring



Android Demos with Mobizen

Requirements Mobizen mobile app installed on device

USB cable NOTE: If you need to demo without a USB cable, refer to Appendix I

Setup Download and install the Mobizen mobile app on your Android device. Follow prompts to accept Terms of Use

agreements

Sign into the app using a locally configured email account

Create an alphanumeric 6-digit connection password and click “Next”

Use the “Cancel” button to ignore prompts to install additional components for connecting over Wi-Fi

Swipe through the initial tutorial screens and click “Start Mobizen”

Click “Ok” to accept the prompt regarding not installing additional Wi-Fi components

Ensure that “USB debugging” is enabled on your demo device from Settings / Developer options / Debugging

Connect the demo device to your laptop using a USB cable

Login to the Mobizen webpage using the email address from second step and the 6 digit connection password o Mobizen is best viewed in Chrome

After logging into the webpage, the device should receive a notification indicating that it is now connected through USB

Once signed in you can enter Full Screen mode using the toggle button. The device can be controlled locally or from your laptop depending on your personal preference

Configuring VMware Fusion for OS X Demos

The purpose of this guide is to create an ideal environment from which demos of AirWatch’s Mac OS X functionality can

be best demonstrated. Creation of a base image with a corresponding snapshot will allow for consistent results without

concern over affecting your local work environment.

Setup

Double click on VMware Fusion, and select “Virtual Machine Library”

Select the plus sign (+) and create a “New” image

Select “More Options” and choose “Install OS X from recovery partition”

Provide a descriptive name to identify the image by and select Save

Select Finish to initiate installation of the image

All initialization to complete, and follow-up the prompts to complete basic setup

Inside OS X Utilities, select “Reinstall OS X” and then Continue

Follow prompts such as accepting Apple EULA’s to continue installing OS X

Select “Macintosh HD” as the disk to install OS X and click Install

Sign into the Apple Store using your Apple ID to complete the file download (the latter can be a long process)

Once downloaded the operating system will automatically install

Restart the image once installation completes, and follow the prompts for country, keyboard layout, creating a

local user account, etc… that are part of the initial OS X setup

Once setup is complete, make any setup changes desired to get the machine to your desired pre-enrollment

configuration changes e.g. mouse scrolling, unique background, etc…

Check from the menu that VMware Tools is installed and up to date as this will help with screen re-sizing and

make the image more presentable on-screen

Proceed to take a snapshot of the machine once any desired setup is complete

Use this fresh snapshot as a restore point prior to any OS X demos going forward

Windows Phone Demos with Project My Screen

Requirements: Windows Phone 8.1

Project My Screen app installed in Windows partition on PC

Micro USB cable

Setup Download and install the Project My Screen application in your Windows parallels or VMWare fusion instance

Connect your device to the PC using the micro USB cable, and accept the prompt to “Connect to Windows” on the PC

Launch the Project My Screen App on the PC, and accept the prompt on the phone to “Allow screen projection”.

The native device settings for Project My Screen will update to show as connected to the PC

The device can now be controlled through direct handling or use of the PC mouse & keyboard

Appendix

I. TeamViewer for Android Mobizen for Android is recommended for mirroring your Android device with the least amount of lag. If for some reason you do not have a USB, use TeamViewer.

Requirements

TeamViewer installed on Android device

TeamViewer installed on Mac

Setup

Download and install the Mac OS X TeamViewer application

Create a TeamViewer account if you do not already have one, and then launch and sign into the application on your Mac

Download and install the Android “TeamViewer QuickSupport” app on your Android device o If prompted, download the additional TeamViewer Remote Control add on for your Android device

Launch the TeamViewerQS app on your device and obtain the device ID

Enter the device ID in the TeamViewer application on the Mac and select “Connect to partner”

From the device, select the prompt to allow remote control

Once the connection is established, use the Mac client to open the “Remote control” panel

Proceed through remainder of demo controlling the device entirely using mouse & keyboard
