HLB Company was established in 1975 in Korea and has grown as a leading industrial

GRP/GRE pipe manufacturing businesses since 2009 and acquired the certificates

from international classification associations for the first time in Korea. Through

METHOD FILAMENT WINDING

GRP(Glassfiber Reinforced Polyester) pipe is manufac-

tured by a self-developed winding machine. The mandrel

installed with the machine is wound with E/C-glass and

the Impregnated glassfiber with resin at an angle of 54

degrees. In GRP standards, DN is GRP pipe’s inner diam-

eter and the mandrel’s outer diameter. The curing, de-

molding and machining progresses are then performed.

These progresses are important to ensure uniformity of

a high grade in HLB’s GRP pipe.

BUTT & WRAP

This joint method applies laminating on the both ends meet, for

GRP pipe system requiring resistance force against inner pressure.

FLANGES

It is the same as steel pipe’s flange joint type applying ANSI,

JIS and DIN standards. This type allows for pipes with different

materials to be connected.

MECHANICAL COUPLING

This joint method consists of a stainless sleeve with a mechanical

screw connection and a gasket seal for joining pipes of different

materials and diameters.

SOCKET

This joint method is to connect the bell shaped end and the tapered

end with adhesive. It is suitable for the complex installation and

the GRP pipe system loaded by longitudinal direction.

GRP pipe is mainly made of glassfiber and resin. Both

materials primarily set the properties of the GRP.

Dependaing on the resin type, we supply;

- GRE(Glassfiber Reinforced Epoxy) pipe

SUPERIORITY OF GRE PIPE

MARITIME APPLICATION

GRP(Glassfiber Reinforced Plastic) pipe resists a wide range of chemicals. The

chemical resistance of GRP pipe depends primarily on the particular resin matrix

material used. The temperature resistance and workable pressure of GRP pipe

also depends largely on the resin matrix.

GRE(Glassfiber Reinforced Epoxy) pipe is used in oil fields to increase workable

pressure. Epoxy resin typically allows for higher service temperatures than

polyester resins, ranging up to 110 . GRE pipe has superior properties to

GRP(Glassfiber Reinforced Polyester) pipe.

To prevent danger from sparks, the conductive fiber is added to general production

and earthing cable is equipped.

SOCKET

This joint method is to connect the bell shaped

end and the tapered end with adhesive. It

is suitable for the complex installation and

the GRE pipe system loaded by longitudinal

direction.

DOUBLE O-RING

Between spigot and bell, two o-rings are

inserted to seal the socket. It is easier to be

installed on-site than the others.

DOUBLE O-RING EXPANSION

COUPLING

Double o-rings and Lock-key are inserted

in an expansion adaptor. This joint method

is suitable to absorb excessive expansion

and contraction on piping system by Hull’s

moving condition.

It is the same as steel pipe’s flange joint

GRP GRATING TYPES GRP grating is classified into several types according to manufacturing methods and

materials;

» Pultruded GRP grating

The GRP(Glassfiber Reinforced Plastic) grating manufactured by the pultrusion

method is consist of glass roving, glass mat and veil. Roving and mat shape of

glassfiber are used for maximizing the strength of glassfiber. And these are passed

through the heated mold to be the shape of grating. The pultruded grating has vari-

ous superiorities over steel grating. Also it is more suitable for high load condition in

comparison with the grating.

» Pultruded phenolic grating

The pultruded phenolic grating is consisted of glassfiber and phenolic resin un-

likely typical GRP grating consisting of polyester, vinyl ester and epoxy with glass-

fiber. Phenolic grating is an alternative to maintenance-intensive steel grating for

applications where conventional pultruded grating cannot be used. Phenolic grating

can withstand high temperatures and direct flame while maintaining its structural

integrity. The feature makes the grating ideal for a wide range of offshore, marine,

transportation and industrial applications.

» Molded GRP grating

Molded GRP(Glassfiber Reinforced Plastic) grating is manufactured in an open, and heated

mold. Continuous E-glass fibers are interwoven in alternating layers while being complete-

ly wetted out with thermosetting resin systems. This continuous process produces an inte-

gral, one piece construction which provides resilience and bi-directional strength. Although

the concave profile of standard plain surface molded GRP grating provides excellent anti-

skid properties, an integral grit surface can be supplied for additional slip resistance.

platforms, non-conductive walkways, and guards for electrical bus bars

and machinery.

» Lightweight, easy to install

- ¼ weight of the steel grating.

» Dependable anti-skid surface for safety and comfort

- Slip-resistant top surface by spreading silica sand.

- It is less fatiguing than conventional steel grating, less damaging than

serrated steel grating and not dangerously sharp.

» Fire resistance

- High quality resin and special additives are contribute to the fire-retar-

dant nature of GRP grating. And our products have passed the test of

ASTM E84.

- Especially, pultruded phenolic grating can withstand high temperatures

and direct flame while maintaining its structural integrity.
