TIMING: 5 SESSIONS
DIDACTIC SEQUENCE OF ACTIVITIES.
FINAL TASK
- Dramatization : Pupils have to prepare a role-play which situation is a tale
‘Where’s the crocodile?’.
SESSION 1.
- SURVEY. The pupils ask their classmates about if they have or have not pets.
They practice the following structures ‘Have you got a cat/ dog/ horse/
bird?’’I have....’.
- LISTEN AND POINT. First pupils listen and repeat the new vocabulary, and
after they listen to it again and have to point the animals’ flashcards. (The
teacher will put the flashcards around the classroom).
- STORY-TELLING ‘WHERE IS THE CROCODILE?’The pupils listen to the
tale while the teacher shows the flashcards.
WHERE’S THE CROCODILE?
Once upon a time, a little yellow canary was flying near a lake, when she met a
beautiful blue butterfly.
‘Where’s the crocodile?’
‘I don’t know’, said the butterfly.
Then a pink flamingo arrived.
‘Where’s the crocodile?’, asked the canary and the butterfly.
‘I don’t know’,said the flamingo.
Then a duck arrived.
‘Where’s the crocodile?’,asked the canary, the butterfly and the flamingo.
‘I don’t know’,said the duck.
Later, a dragon-fly arrived.
‘Where’s the crocodile?’, asked the canary, the butterfly, the flamingo and the
duck.
‘I don’t know’, said the dragon-fly
And then a little green frog jumped up.
‘Where’s the crocodile?’, asked the canary, the butterfly, the flamingo, the duck
and the dragon-fly.
‘I don’t know’, said the frog.
‘Nobody knows!’,said the canary, the butterfly, the flamingo, the duck, the
dragon-fly and the frog.
‘HERE I AM!’,snapped the crocodile.
‘And where’s the canary and the butterfly, the flamingo, the duck, the dragon-
fly and the frog?’, asked the crocodile.
- READ AND WRITE. The pupils listen to the tale again and they have to
complete the story with the name of the characteres.( dunk, flamingo,
dragon-fly, frog, canary and so on).
- WRITE.

SESSION 2.
- GUESSING GAME. A pupil hides a animal’ flashcard and the classmates
have to guess what the animal is. They practice the following structure ‘Is
it ...? .
- LISTEN ‘TRUE OR FALSE’. The pupils work in pairs. A pupils makes a
sentence for example ‘There is one yellow butterfly’ and the classmate
answeres ‘True or false’.
- RHYME. The pupils listen and say the rhyme.

- CROSSWORDS. The pupils find the names of twelve animals and write them
below.
SESSION 3.
- SPELL ANIMAL WORDS. A pupil spell an animal word and the rest of
pupils have to guess what the animal is. The winner will spell the next
animal word.
- LISTEN AND REPEAT. The pupils listen descriptions about animals and
after they repeat it.
- READ AND WRITE. The pupils read a text and they have to complete it.
- READ AND CHOOSE. The pupils read and put the letter in the box.
SESSION 4.
- THE ANIMAL GAME. The pupils ask some questions to guess what the
animal is.
- LISTEN, READ AND SAY THE ANIMALS. They read a text and say the
animals. After they work in pairs and ask different questions about the text,
for example ‘How tall is the giraffe?’’It’s 5 metres tall’. The teacher helps to
pupils to make the questions.
- MATCH AND WRITE. The pupils find the animal after they read small
descriptions and write the names.
SESSION 5.
- STORY-TELLING AGAIN. The pupils listen the story telling again and show
animals’ flashcards when they listen it.
- ANIMALS IN DANGER. They listen and read a text about animals in danger
and after the teacher ask them some questions.( for example, ‘Where do
tigers live?’’How long is a tiger?’...).
- YOUR ‘ZIG-ZAG STORYBOOK’. They make their own ‘zig-zag storybook’
and after they work in group and practise the story.
SESSION 6.
- WARMING-UP. BINGO. Pupils have a board with pictures related to
animals organised in lines. So, as I say the different words aloud, they will
have to check if they correspond to the words they have. When they get all
the pictures ticked they have to say BINGO!.
- DRAMATIZATION. ACTING OUT ‘Where’s the crocodile?’. Each group
show a zig-zag and they represent the story, each pupil is a character.
REINFORCEMENT ACTIVITIES:
- PLAY THE GAME. The pupils work in pairs, a pupil think an animal and another
pupil ask him/her to guess what the animal is.
- LISTEN AND WRITE. They have small descriptions about animals and they
have to write the necessary words in the text.
EXTENSION ACTIVITIES.
- MAKE A POSTER. They have to make an animal poster, they have to draw
an animal and make a small descriptions after they wiil present it to the
classroom.
- DESCRIPTIONS. They write one sentence about each animal.
