Predictable Excellence in Prosthodontic Practice: A Synergy Between Modern Ceramics and Digital Technology可預測的未來－卓越膺復治療：數位科技與現代陶材的結合美學

Bio John A. Sorensen, DMD, PhD, FACP索倫森 教授美國華盛頓大學口腔醫學院 副院長

Abstract: The development of new applications of existing ceramic systems and introduction of novel materials sys-tems have expanded the indications in esthetic and reconstructive prosthodontics. These modern materials combined with the exciting advancements in digital technologies enable dentists to perform procedures unimaginable 10 years ago. Dr. Sorensen will explore currently available ceramic systems, restoration design issues, summarize the research evidence, and demonstrate the clinical use of CAD/CAM restorative systems. Trends in ceramic restoration fabrication systems for both large commercial dental laboratories and sophisticated in-office/chair-side CAD/CAM systems are offered along with the state of the art in materials for and design of implant abutments and prostheses. He will present a rationale for treatment planning, selection, and integration of different material systems based on clinical research and 30 years of prosthodontic clinical practice. Clinical treatment ranging from onlays up to full mouth rehabilitation in bruxers will be presented. Dr. Sorensen will cover in detail the clinical procedures involved for predictable and profitable restorative practice includ-ing: treatment planning, tooth preparation design based on biomechanical principles and tooth conservation, provision-al restorations, optical and conventional impressions, delivery and adjustment procedures, cement selection criteria, and cementation techniques for teeth and implants.

Bio John A. Sorensen, DMD, PhD, FACP / 索倫森 教授美國華盛頓大學口腔醫學院 副院長口腔修復科，美國華盛頓大學口腔醫學院

Dr. Sorensen is Acting Professor, Department of Restorative Dentistry, Associate Dean For Clinics, and Director of Research for the Graduate Prosthodontics Program at the University of Washington. Previously he was founder and director of the Pacific Dental Institute in Portland, Oregon, conducting clinical trials on fixed prosthodontic systems and applied materials testing, and offering CE programs. A Diplomate of the American Board of Prostho-dontics, Sorensen was in full-time practice limited to prosthodontics working with an in-house dental lab team for 9 years before returning to the University of Washington. Earlier he was The ODA Centennial Pro-fessor of Restorative Dentistry and Director, Dental Clinical Research Center at Oregon Health Sciences University. Dr. Sorensen has published over 80 research articles and chapters, and over 130 research ab-stracts. He has given over 150 invited lectures in 32 countries as well as over 300 lectures courses, hands-on programs and patient-treatment classes.
