4 Connections

The references 0 etc. mentioned below refer to the illu-stration on page 10.

4.1 Mains power connection

The digital receiver should only be connected to the mainspower supply after it has been completely connected with allother components in the system. This serves to avoid thedigital receiver or other components being damaged ordestroyed. When you have completed making all the connec-

tions, use the mains cable supplied to connect thereceiver to a mains power outlet 85-288 V/50-60 Hz.

4.2 External unit

4.2.1 Single operation

0 Use a suitable coaxial cable to connect the 67" of the digital receiver to the LNC of yourexternal unit. Please also note Point 6 “Settings”.

4.2.2 Operation with an additional receiver in a sin-gle-receiver installation

If you wish to operate an additional unit in a single-receiver installation (e.g. an analogue receiver or anADR receiver), you can connect the LNC input of theadditional receiver with the 67" of the DVBreceiver by means of a suitable coaxial cable. In orderfor the additional receiver to receive the satellite sig-nal, your DVB receiver must remain in Standby modeat all times. When the DVB receiver is switched on,this will take over the priority control over the LNC.

4.3 Connection to a television set

When you have completed connecting your digital receiver tothe television set as described in this chapter, it may benecessary to adjust the digital receiver to the television bro-adcast standard of your TV set before proceeding with furthersettings. See also Point 6.3.5 (3 ! ,).

4.3.1 On SCART cables

In order to enjoy the optimum picture quality you should con-nect the digital receiver to your television set by means of aSCART cable.

11

bed_anl_DVB13 CIP_englisch_q5.qxd 08.09.03 11:14 Seite 11

Page 12: DIGITAL- Satellite-Receiver - HD · PDF fileDIGITAL-Satellite-Receiver ... 6.4.4 Rotating dish antenna ... Remote control bed_anl_DVB13 CIP_englisch_q5.qxd 08.09.03 11:14 Seite 5

Proceed as follows: Connect the receiver ((8/9 /3) and the

television set (SCART socket) by means of a SCARTcable. If your television set is appropriately equipped, this will be switched automatically to AV, and thus tosatellite reception, when the digital receiver is switchedon.

4.3.2 On RF cables*If your television set is not equipped with a SCART socket, the digital receiver must be connected to the antenna input ofthe television set. In this case, sound can only be reproducedin mono mode.Proceed as follows: Use a suitable TV connection cable to connect the

receiver (R.") to the antenna input of the tele-vision set.

The cable coming from the terrestrial antenna must beconnected to the / " of thedigital receiver.

You must now set the television set to the output channel ofthe digital receiver. Select a free programme slot on the tele-vision set, and tune it to Channel 38 (if necessary, refer to theoperating manual of the television set).If you cannot obtain a clear picture on Channel 38, this chan-nel or a neighbouring channel may already be tuned to achannel being received via the antenna. You can confirm thisby briefly removing the antenna cable from the /

"socket of the digital receiver. If you thentemporarily receive a better picture, you should select a diffe-rent channel in the range of 21 to 69 for the digital receiver.

 * :1."

To set an optimum UHF output channel, call up the menu(;3 *, as described in 6.3., and select thefield :1." . Then proceed as desribedunder 6.3.7.

4.4 Video cassette recorder (VCR)* Connect the video recorder to the SCART socket

38. When set to Play, the video recorder will delivera switching signal to the digital receiver. The videorecorder signal will thus be provided automatically tothe TV set. If your video recorder does not provide a switching sig-nal, press the key </87 to set your digital recei-ver to the external (3input. Press this key again toreturn to normal operation.
