1 DISTINCTION IN ENGLISH Primary Two Model Essays Revision Paper 4  After dinner, T om went to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator. He picked out the most delicious and crunchy-looking apple and took a large bite. To his surprise, he felt something moving on his hand. A worm wriggled out of the apple!   After dinner, Tom went to the kitchen and opened

the refrigerator. He picked out  the most delicious and

crunchy-looking apple and took a large bite. To his surprise, he

felt something moving on his hand. A worm wriggled  out of

the apple! Feeling disgusted, he threw the apple onto the

floor. More worms began crawling out. His mother entered the

kitchen and almost gave her son a tongue-lashing  for wasting

  The sun was shining brightly in the sky. An old lady was

taking a stroll in the park with the aid of   her walking stick. She

failed to notice a banana skin on the ground so she slipped and fell

when she stepped on it. She landed on the ground with a deafening

thud. Her elbows started bleeding and her fruits and vegetables

were strewn everywhere. Jane, who was jogging in the park,

stopped to help the old lady. The onlookers who witnessed Jane’s

act of kindness praised her.

Revision Paper 10

  Ken is a lazy  and disobedient  boy. He does not like to do

his homework and watches television all day long instead. One day,

he was watching his favourite cartoon. He told his mother that he

had no homework, so she let him watch television. However, when

his mother asked him to have his dinner, he ignored her because

he was too engrossed in the programme. Finally, she decided to

switch off the television. Just then, she spotted Ken’s unfinished

homework  on the coffee table. She was furious and disciplined

Ken with a cane for his laziness and disobedience.

Revision Paper 11

  It was a busy day at the noisy  construction site. Many

workmen wearing helmets were moving around, carrying heavy

concrete bricks. Old Mrs Tan was on her way to the market. She

decided to take a shortcut through the construction site. As she

could not read English, she ignored the danger sign in front of the

site. Just then, a pile of bricks fell from a half-completed building.

Fortunately, an alert foreman saved Mrs Tan from a tragic accident

by pushing her away in the nick of time. Mrs Tan was very grateful 

to him for saving her life.

Revision Paper 12

  Adrian was reading a library book one afternoon. After 

some time, he felt bored  so he looked around his bedroom for

something else to do. His bedroom was very messy with clothes,

toys and socks strewn everywhere. His eyes lit up in glee when

he spotted some crayons. He started vandalising  the book by

drawing on the pages. When his mother came in and saw what he

was doing, she was furious. She gave him a tongue-lashing  for

destroying public property.
