L oving and faithful God, through the years the people of our archdiocese have appreciated the prayers and

life and dignity of all people.

Bless parents that they may form their chil-dren in faith. Bless and protect our youth that they may be peacemakers of our time. Give consolation to those who have lost

Hear our prayer and give us the persever-ance to be a voice for life and human dignity

in our community.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help

us.

Mother Henriette Delille, pray for us that we

Communion Hail Mary: Gentle Woman

Introducon

Hail Mary, full of grace,

the Lord is with you.

Blessed are you among women

and blest is the fruit of your womb,

Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

pray for us sinners now

and at the hour of death. Amen.

Refrain

Gentle woman, quiet light, morning star, so strong and bright, gentle Mother, peaceful dove, teach us wisdom; teach us love. 1. You were chosen by the Father; you were chosen for the Son. You were chosen from all women and for woman, shining one. 2. Blessed are you among women, blest in turn all women, too. Blessed they with peaceful spirits. Blessed they with gentle hearts. By: C. Canto Final

Los Reyes Magos

Estribillo

Licencia # 608353.

King forever, Ceasing never, Over us all to reign. O star of wonder, star of night, Star with royal beauty bright, Westward leading, sll proceeding, Guide us to the perfect Light. 3. Frankincense to offer have I; Incense owns a Deity nigh, Prayer and praising Gladly raising, Worshiping God on high. O star of wonder, star of night, Star with royal beauty bright, Westward leading, sll proceeding, Guide us to the perfect Light. 4. Myrrh is mine: its biZer perfume Breathes a life of gath'ring gloom; Sorrowing, sighing, Bleeding, dying, Sealed in the stone cold tomb. O star of wonder, star of night, Star with royal beauty bright, Westward leading, sll proceeding, Guide us to the perfect Light. 5. Glorious now behold him rise, King and God and sacrifice: Heav'n sings, 'Hallelujah!' 'Hallelujah!' earth replies. Offertory What Child is This

1. What child is this, who, laid to rest, On Mary's lap is sleeping? Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, While shepherds watch are keeping? This, this is Christ the King, Whom shepherds guard and angels sing; haste, haste to bring him laud, The babe, the son of Mary. 2. Why lies he in such mean estate

Where ox and ass are feeding? Good Chrisan, fear; for sinners here The silent Word is pleading. This, this is Christ the King, Whom shepherds guard and angels sing; haste, haste to bring him laud, The babe, the son of Mary. 3. So bring him incense, gold and myrrh, Come peasant, king to own him; The King of kings salvaon brings, Let loving hearts enthrone him. This, this is Christ the King, Whom shepherds guard and angels sing; haste, haste to bring him laud, The babe, the son of Mary. By: W. Dix; J. Stainer©Public Domain. Used by permission.

Communion The First Nowell

1. The first Nowell, the angel did say, Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay; In fields where they lay keeping their sheep, On a cold winter's night that was so deep. Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Born is the King of Israel. 2. They looked up and saw a star Shining in the east, beyond them far, And to the earth it gave great light, And so it connued both day and night. Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Born is the King of Israel. 3. And by the light of that same star Three wise men came from country far; To seek for a king was their intent, And to follow the star wherever it went. Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Born is the King of Israel. 4. This star drew nigh to the northwest, O'er Bethlehem it took its rest;

And there it did both stop and stay, Right over the place where Jesus lay. Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Born is the King of Israel. 5. Then entered in those wise men three, Full rev'rently upon their knee, And offered there, in his presence, Their gold and myrrh and frankincense. Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Born is the King of Israel. 6. Then let us all with one accord Sing praises to our heav'nly Lord; Who with the Father we adore And Spirit blest for evermore. Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Born is the King of Israel. English Carol 17th C©Public Domain. Used by permission.

Come to Bethlehem and see Him whose birth the angels sing; Come adore, on bended knee, Christ, the Lord, the newborn King 4. See Him in a manger laid, Whom the choirs of angels praise; Mary Joseph lend your aid, While our hearts in love we raise. By: E. Barnes, J. Chadwick©Public Do-main. Used by permission.

Communion Child of the Poor/What Child is This?

1. Helpless and hungry, lowly, afraid wrapped in the chill of midwinter; comes now among us, born into poverty’s embrace, new life for the world. Who is this who lives with the lowly, sharing their sorrows, knowing their hunger? This is Christ, revealed to the world in the eyes of a child, a child of the poor. 2. What Child is this, who, laid to rest on Mary’s lap is sleeping? Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, while shepherds watch are keeping? This, this is Christ the King, whom shepherds guard and angels sing; Haste, haste, to bring Him laud, the babe, the Son of Mary. 3. Who is the stranger here in our midst, looking for shelter among us? Who is the outcast? Who do we see amid the poor, the children of God? Who is this who lives with the lowly, sharing their sorrows, knowing their hunger?

This is Christ, revealed to the world in the eyes of a child, a child of the poor. 4. Why lies He in such mean estate, where ox and ass are feeding? Good Chrisans, fear, for sinners here the silent Word is pleading. This, this is Christ the King, whom shepherds guard and angels sing; Haste, haste, to bring Him laud, the babe, the Son of Mary. 5. Who is this who lives with the lowly, sharing their sorrows, knowing their hunger? This is Christ, revealed to the world in the eyes of a child, a child of the poor. 6. Bring all the thirst, all who seek peace; bring those with nothing to offer. Strengthen the feeble, say to the frightened heart: “Fear not: here is your God!” Who is this who lives with the lowly, sharing their sorrows, knowing their hunger? This is Christ, revealed to the world in the eyes of a child, a child of the poor This, this is Christ the King, whom shepherds guard and angels sing; Haste, haste, to bring Him laud, the babe, the Son of Mary. We do not know much about the three wise men that visited the Holy Family in Bethlehem except that following a powerful urge, they left everything behind and travelled a great dis-tance, following a star so that they could pay hom-age to “the newborn king of the Jews.” Matt. 2:1 We too have that urge deep to find Jesus within us. We too must journey, but ours is an internal search, deep into our soul where He – the King of our hearts resides. When we find Him we present our greatest gift - the gift He desires most – ourselves. We go on bended knee, weak and sinful to the Healer, the Consoler, the Prince of Peace and our God. This is why He became human – to redeem His people. Jesus, here I am, be merciful to me, a sinner. In this great Year of Mercy may we welcome the Heart of Christ into our homes and hearts through the en-thronement of the Sacred Heart. For information please contact Anne-Marie d'Abadie at 443-2204 or email [email protected] (English), or Lynda Peña - 338-4306 (Spanish).

In today’s gospel (Matthew 2:1-12) we hear the story about when the magi visited the newborn Jesus. They traveled from the east, making time for their journey to visit the newborn king. One of the New Year resolutions from the “Pope Fran-cis list” (on a news website based in the Philippines in 2014) was to “make time for others.” The magi’s jour-ney to visit the Christ child exemplifies exactly how one can “make time for others,” whether it is family, friends, acquaintances, or strangers at school or work. At Divine Mercy Parish’s “Life Nights” (every Sunday 7:00-8:45pm in the parish hall for 9th-12th graders) and “Edge” program (every Tuesday 6:45-8:00pm in the trailer at the SEAS site for 6th-8th graders) the high school and middle school youth of our parish and their friends discuss ways we can “make time for oth-ers” in our own lives. Through games, skits, free food, and prayer we share about the difficulties and sin that one may encounter in society today. Come and join us! Call the youth minister, Ryan Foulon, at the parish of-fice for more information.

“Dios es rico en misericordia . . .” Efesios 2:4

¡Ven y únete a nosotros! Llame al ministro de la ju-ventud, Ryan Foulon, en la oficina parroquial para más información.

Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself en-tirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.
