• Douglas “Doug” Carl Engelbart nació el 30 de enero de 1925 en Portland, Oregon, EUA

• Inventor, profesor universitario, investigador, administrador, pionero de la computación y de la IHC. Comprometido defensor del desarrollo y uso de computadoras y redes para ayudar a enfrentar a los problemas crecientes y complejos del mundo actual.

• Mouse, knee-control, hipertexto, groupware, ‘interactive computing’, precursor de las GUIs, hipermedia, redes de computadoras, ‘Bootstrapping strategy’, soporte en línea, videoconferencias…
