Operator’s ideal position: Close enough to clearly see hydraulic action and pressure gauge, while being completely out of pulling pit when system is under
tension.

Traffic flow: After the first few feet are pulled into the ground, pipe can be flexed to a convenient position out of the path of vehicles and pedestrians.

Pipe patrol: In this case, workers were on hand at street during entire pull, watching for traffic and making way as necessary.

Easy pull, much harder dig: Even with a relatively short distance and simple landscaping, trenchless replacement almost always wins over digging.

Bumping: After bursting head is free, his particular length of pipe (sixty straight feet) is easy to coax along, even with a small hand mallet!

However, the best tool for the job is a 12 to 16 pound sledge hammer.

Finishing touches: Cleanup and even replanting is done in minutes at pulling end.
