FROM THE PRINCIPAL...
VAN DIE SKOOLHOOF… Dit was 'n baie besige en suksesvolle eerste kwar-
taal, vir al op die somer-sportgebied.
Pearsoniete het sover hierdie kwartaal op verskeie
vlakke groot suksesse behaal.
Learners have actually been fantastic with regard to
the transition between the summer sports and the start
of the winter sports programme. The winter season is
one that calls for great commitment and all involved
have to think of the interests of the school and the
team. Please note that the winter season has sports
fixtures every weekend. Ons vra dat ouers asseblief
nie reëlings tref om vir naweke weg te gaan nie.
I should like to wish you all a very pleasant
and restful holiday and a safe return next term.
May this holiday be a special time with your
family and friends.

1st Term
Reports Enclosed please find your child’s first term report. We extend our congratulations to all those learners who have obtained good results or performed to the best of their abilities. We trust that the others will take steps where necessary to ensure a better performance next
term.
Die behaalde punt in elke vak mag dalk hoër
wees as wat dit in Junie sal wees omdat slegs
'n klein gedeelte nou getoets is. The mark
indicated in each subject is based on a number
of tests and assignments completed during the
first term. It is a ‘continuous assessment mark’,
which counts towards your child’s final result at
the end of this year.
You are reminded of the scheduled
PARENT/TEACHER evening on MONDAY,
8 April from 17:30 – 19:30, for Surnames
A—L. TUESDAY, 9 April from 17:30—
19:30, for Surnames M—Z.
School Uniform
All learners are to wear summer uni-form until FRIDAY, 30 APRIL. Full win-
ter uniform is compulsory as from
TUESDAY, 2 MAY. This means that every Pearson
learner must have a blazer by 2 MAY.
The boys and girls have been addressed about
their uniform and appearance. We are especially
concerned about the neatness of the girls' hair and
the incorrect length of the girls' skirts. Die snit van
die dogtersrompe is van so 'n aard dat dit om die
middellyf moet pas en nie op die heupe moet sit nie.
Dieselfde geld vir die wintersrompe. Parents must
please support us with the uniform neatness policy.
Learners not adhering to the policy will be sent
home and given a 3-hour Friday DT. Ons wil graag
alle ouers versoek om saam met ons te werk sodat
leerders altyd hulle Pearsonskooldrag met trots sal
dra.
Our Clothing Shop will NOT be open during the
holidays. The Used Clothing Shop is open every
Tuesday afternoon during the term from 14:00 -
15:00.
-
1st Day: Term 2
Term 2 starts on Monday, 8 April. We start
with Week 1 (Day 1) on the timetable. Neat-
ness inspection will be held and sports’
practices start on the first day.
Let wel: Ons verwag dat ons leerders
volgens die korrekte netheidsreëls op die
eerste dag van volgende kwartaal
sal terugkeer. Sportoefeninge
sal op die eerste dag reeds begin.

Arrangements when absent:
Any learner who is aware that he/she
is going to be away from school for a
period of time, must make an arrangement re
the school work that he/she needs
to catch up, with one of his/her friends in the
same class. Where necessary, teachers will
photocopy notes that will be sent home.
Teachers, however, cannot be held
solely responsible for any work missed
during a learner’s absence from school.

News from the Library
Everything you need for a better future and success has already been written. And guess what? All you have to do is go to the library. Henri Frederic Amiel The Phoenix Library has been busy this term with the installation of wi-fi and a bank of computers for research and printing of projects. Our grateful thanks go to the Finestone family who donated the computer monitors. In addition we have had regular new book displays, poetry reading and storytelling in celebration of
reading week.
Big thanks to all parents and learners who have donated books and magazines to the Library since the beginning of the year. Remember this is an ongoing process so please think of us when you are doing a clean-out of your shelves. We are especially in need of old maga-zines which can be cut up for school activities and projects. The Library Drive list is still available at Exclusive Books should you wish to donate a book. This is a list of books specifically chosen by
Pearsonites as a wish list for the library.
We are pleased to have a team of busy moms who have worked very hard this term with a new system of blocking and covering our books so that they stay in good condition. Our gratitude to Mrs de Villiers, Mrs Allday, Mrs Peters, Mrs Venter, Mrs Spittal and Mrs
Streitburger whose expertise and hard work are greatly appreciated.
