Ostwaldov krug boja:
Wilhelm Ostwald traku (niz) spektra zakrivljuje u kružnicu.Miješa susjedne boje i dobiva 100 čistih boja, koje naziva kromatske, šarene boje.
Sve boje koje nisu u spektru naziva akromatske, nešarene boje (neboje).

Boja gubi svoju čistoću dodavanjem sive – degradacija boje. Boju možemo degradirati i oduzimanjem pigmenta (akvarel boji dodati vodu).
