KATA PENGANTAR
Imbas dari kehidupan global tidak hanya mempengaruhi tuntutan
kemampuan bagi para siswa yang regular, namun mempengaruhi para siswa
pada tingkat SMPLB, khususnya bagi siswa tunagrahita. Pada akhirnya para
siswa SMPLB Tunagrahita, juga dituntut untuk mampu mengenal dan
berinteraksi dengan Bahasa Inggris yang disesuaikan dengan kemampuan
siswa. Tidak hanya itu, mereka juga mampu mengembangkan kemandirian
dalam belajar dan nantinya di masa depan.
Memahami dan menguasai Bahasa Inggris akan sangat penting bagi
para siswa tunagrahita. Sebagai Bahasa internasional, akan banyak sekali
produk dari luar negeri dan juga berbagai macam sumber belajar yang
menggunakan Bahasa Inggris nantinya. Dalam dunia kerja, Bahasa Inggris
juga sering dijadikan salah satu media dalam bekerja, mulai dari tujuan
memperluas mitra kerja hingga mungkin petunjuk penggunaan suatu alat
dalam bekerja. Dengan memberikan para siswa kita kesempatan untuk belajar
Bahasa Inggris dan mengembangkan kemampuan komunikasi mereka, maka
kita semua termasuk pihak yang ikut bertanggung jawab untuk masa depan
mereka telah menunjukkan kepedulian dan dukungan kita terhadap
perkembangan mereka. Tidak hanya memberikan fasilitas, dukungan dan
semangat juga wajib kita berikan melalui penciptaan lingkungan belajar yang
mendukung dan inspiratif.
Buku ini dikembangkan dengan menggunakan kurikulum 2013 yang
berfokus pada pemaksimalan kemampuan siswa secara total. Dengan
dispesifikasikannya kemampuan siswa menuju 4 direktori yaitu: sikap, sosial,
pengetahuan, dan keterampilan, .maka diharapkan guru serta orang tua
sebagai garda depan pembelajar siswa bisa lebih menyadari keberadaan 4
kompetensi yang penting dan saling berkaitan ini. Materi dan sumber belajar
yang dimiliki seperti halnya buku paket ini diharapkan dapat digunakan dengan
kaitannya sebagai pembantu guru dalam memaksimalkan 4 kompetensi
tersebut.
Adanya buku ini tidak lebih dari sekedar salah satu media yang
membantu siswa mengembangkan potensi dan kemampuan mereka. Buku ini
bukan merupakan komponen tunggal, namun dalam pelaksanaannya
diperlukan pendampingan oleh buku sumber belajar lainnya, selain buku guru.
Siswa juga didukung untuk mencari sumber belajar dalam bentuk lain yang bisa

KATA PENGANTAR
Imbas dari kehidupan global tidak hanya mempengaruhi tuntutan
kemampuan bagi para siswa yang regular, namun mempengaruhi para siswa
pada tingkat SMPLB, khususnya bagi siswa tunagrahita. Pada akhirnya para
siswa SMPLB Tunagrahita, juga dituntut untuk mampu mengenal dan
berinteraksi dengan Bahasa Inggris yang disesuaikan dengan kemampuan
siswa. Tidak hanya itu, mereka juga mampu mengembangkan kemandirian
dalam belajar dan nantinya di masa depan.
Memahami dan menguasai Bahasa Inggris akan sangat penting bagi
para siswa tunagrahita. Sebagai Bahasa internasional, akan banyak sekali
produk dari luar negeri dan juga berbagai macam sumber belajar yang
menggunakan Bahasa Inggris nantinya. Dalam dunia kerja, Bahasa Inggris
juga sering dijadikan salah satu media dalam bekerja, mulai dari tujuan
memperluas mitra kerja hingga mungkin petunjuk penggunaan suatu alat
dalam bekerja. Dengan memberikan para siswa kita kesempatan untuk belajar
Bahasa Inggris dan mengembangkan kemampuan komunikasi mereka, maka
kita semua termasuk pihak yang ikut bertanggung jawab untuk masa depan
mereka telah menunjukkan kepedulian dan dukungan kita terhadap
perkembangan mereka. Tidak hanya memberikan fasilitas, dukungan dan
semangat juga wajib kita berikan melalui penciptaan lingkungan belajar yang
mendukung dan inspiratif.
Buku ini dikembangkan dengan menggunakan kurikulum 2013 yang
berfokus pada pemaksimalan kemampuan siswa secara total. Dengan
dispesifikasikannya kemampuan siswa menuju 4 direktori yaitu: sikap, sosial,
pengetahuan, dan keterampilan, .maka diharapkan guru serta orang tua
sebagai garda depan pembelajar siswa bisa lebih menyadari keberadaan 4
kompetensi yang penting dan saling berkaitan ini. Materi dan sumber belajar
yang dimiliki seperti halnya buku paket ini diharapkan dapat digunakan dengan
kaitannya sebagai pembantu guru dalam memaksimalkan 4 kompetensi
tersebut.
Adanya buku ini tidak lebih dari sekedar salah satu media yang
membantu siswa mengembangkan potensi dan kemampuan mereka. Buku ini
bukan merupakan komponen tunggal, namun dalam pelaksanaannya
diperlukan pendampingan oleh buku sumber belajar lainnya, selain buku guru.

Guru juga diharapkan bisa berkoordinasi dengan orang tua atau wali
siswa sehingga penggunaan buku ini bisa maksimal, di rumah maupun di
sekolah. Siswa juga diharapakan mempelajari Bahasa sebagai suatu budaya,
bukan ilmu pengetahuan semata. Terlebih lagi Bahasa Inggris bukan
merupakan bahasa yang umum siswa gunakan dimanapun dan kapan pun,
pembiasaannya sangatlah penting agar siswa tidak mengecap Bahasa Inggris
sebagai Bahasa yang sulit dan merepotkan. Tidak hanya hal rebut, Guru dan
orang tua siswa diharapkan mampu mendukung digunakan sumber lain serta
latihan selain buku ini.
Sebagai buku yang dijadikan salah satu sumber belajar, tentu buku ini
masih sangat jauh dari kesempurnaan. Oleh karena itu penulis menerima
