emission
Sunflower seeds produced in Portugal
GHG intensity depends on the LUC scenario (0.42-22 kg CO2eq kg-1).
Highest GHG emissions occurs when perennial cropland (with manure application) is converted into rainfed sunflower.
Lowest GHG emissions occurs for the conversion of SD grassland into irrigated sunflower.
LUC dominates the CC results, contributing with 50-93% to the GHG intensity in all scenarios.

Biofuel LC studies have varying and sometimes contradictory conclusions, even for the same biofuel type and pathway.
Significant disagreement and controversy exist regarding the actual benefits of biofuels displacing fossil fuels.

LCA of biodiesel from waste cooking oil: alternative collection scenarios
Collection scheme with lower environmental impacts is for the
household sector using street containers in Coimbra and Sintra.
The street containers presents lower environmental impacts
than door-to-door and HoReCa collection.
There is a huge variation in the environmental impact associated
with the collection of WCO.
To assure an improved environmental performance for biodiesel
produced from WCO, efficient collection schemes must be
implemented.

As can be seen, the energy requirement (electricity generation and propane production) is the main contributor in 8 out of 10 ofthe impact categories.
Urea is the most important contributor to human toxicity with non-cancer effects (41% of the total impact).
Flue gas represents the local emissions from the combustion of energetic material and propane, and contributes significantly to global warming (46 %).
