PEDAIR colofn:
Four pillars:
‘Sustainable development’ means the process of improving the economic, social, environmental and cultural well-being of of the University by taking action in accordance with the sustainable development principle, aimed at achieving the well-being goals.
For the Libraries to be sustainable it is important that we improve all four aspects of our well-being. Each one is as important as the other.
18
PUMP ffordd o weithio:
Five ways of working:
There are five things that everyone (in your libraries) need to think about to show that you have applied the sustainable development principle. Following these ways of working will help you work together better, avoid repeating past mistakes and tackle some of the long-term challenges we are all facing.
19
Y pump ffordd o weithioThe five ways of working
20
Long term thinking: We must balance how we meet the needs of ‘now’ with the need to safeguard the ability to meet long-term needs.
Prevention is better than cure: We must consider whether any of our proposed actions will prevent problems occurring or getting worse – or will they make things better.
Integration: We must consider how our objectives impact on each of the well-being goals and on the objectives of others.

21
Collaboration: We must seek to act in collaboration with anyone (internal/external) that could help us meet our well-being objectives (and by extension the well-being of Wales)
Involvement: It’s extremely important to involve as many relevant people (stakeholders) as possible to help us meet our collective well-being objectives.
