'Tis the season many charitable organizations conduct fundraising activities, including Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Wisconsin. However, I wish to assure you that one way Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin will NEVER fundraise is through telemarketing. In fact, telemarketing is strictly against our national organization's policy.

If you do receive a call from a telemarketer claiming to be from a wish-granting organization, know that it is NOT Make-A-Wish Foundation. Please ask questions of the caller: What percentage of funds goes directly toward wish granting? Do they have an office in Wisconsin? How many Wisconsin children have benefited from a wish come true? If you are unsure about the organization, please ask them to send you additional information or research the charity before agreeing to a donation.

Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin is proud that 82.1% of every dollar donated goes directly toward wish granting. The Foundation was honored this year to receive the Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin’s 2009 Torch Award for Ethics and Integrity.

Since our chapter was founded in 1984, more than 3,600 families statewide can attest to the power of a wish. Last year, the chapter granted a record-breaking 289 wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions, giving them and their families hope, strength and joy.

From shopping adventures to magical getaways, uplifting wishes take place continually for the inspiring children we serve. We are able to carry out our mission because donors believe in the work done by the Foundation. Again, I want to reiterate that Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin does NOT conduct telemarketing solicitation.
