Yet again, The Triffid provides the goods! Squeezing in shows from a bunch of Brisbane’s finest, alongside
some very special international guests, into the shortest month of the year and extending its license to 2.00am!
The Triffid is all about supporting emerging Brisbane talent and paying homage to local heroes. In fact, it’s
written all over the beer garden wall!
This month you can catch a stellar lineup of Brisbane artists including the amazing Megan Washington, Mouldy lovers, Chocolate Strings and more.
Plus we’ll be playing host to the musical genius behind Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst as well as The Beautiful
Girls and rising American R&B star, Tinashe.
Satiate the hangries with a pre show Howzat Burger by Phillip Johnson (oozing with deliciousness) and a craft beer or wine! Here are the goods for this month...

MOULDY LOVERS, CHOCOLATE STRINGS, RIVERMOUTH & MOSKI JO The Mouldy Lovers are a wild, cacophonous, genre-bending crew featuring some of Brisbane’s finest
musicians. A wild fusion of ska, gypsy, punk, folk and reggae, their music is loud and raucous and WILL make you dance.

Saturday 7 February TRIFFID SEEDS - Showcasing Brisbane’s best emerging bands!
BINARY CIRCUS, JUNKYARD DIAMONDS, WALKEN & KALEIDOSCOPE Binary Circus create melodic, at times dark, grunge-filled songs layered with subtle-yet-thought-provoking lyrics. Junkyard Diamonds play an energetic mix of alternative, pop-grunge, psychedelic, bluesy, garage
rock. Walken are a two-piece alternative rock band built upon a combination of thunderous riffs, a modified guitar, heavy-hitting drums, throat-shreddin’ vocals, and bombastic pop choruses. Kaleidoscope, originally
from south coast NSW, are a hard psych band teaming epic dreads. From 7pm

brings a sprinkle of romance to Brisbane. Megan’s live shows are known for their raw energy, witty banter, emotional intensity and sing-a-long anthems of love lost and won.

Best known as the musical genius behind Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst has released two has released three solo albums alongside further records with Bright Eyes, the Mystic Valley Band, indie-supergroup Monsters
of Folk and Desaparecidos. His latest release, Upside Down Mountain, has been hailed by critics as his finest work to date, Rolling Stone Magazine calling it ‘the most immediately charming record he has ever
made’ and had NME glowing that Oberst is ‘back to his sincere, melancholy best on his latest album’. Australian fans can expect to hear tracks from Upside Down Mountain alongside songs from Oberst’s
treasured back catalogue.
Thursday 26 February A NIGHT OF BLUES FEATURING CHARLIE MUSSELWHITE, MAL EASTICK & BUDDY KNOX
Charlie Musselwhite is a harmonica master whose life reads like the lyrics to a classic blues song: born in Mississippi, raised in Memphis and schooled on the South Side of Chicago.
During his career, Musselwhite has featured on recordings with Tom Waits, Eddie Vedder, Ben Harper, John Lee Hooker, Bonnie Raitt, The Blind Boys of Alabama, INXS and many others. He was inducted into the Blues Foundation’s Blues Hall Of Fame in 2010, has won 24 Blues Music Awards, been nominated for
6 Grammy Awards, and just recently won a Grammy Award with Ben Harper for ‘Get Up’ in 2013.
