Donor Acquistion vs Donor Retention
http://www.nonprofitmarketingguide.com/blog/2013/01/16/donor-acquisition-versus-retention-in-2013/
Retention Donor retention is a measure of how many donors
continue to donate to your organization. Nonprofits
with a high donor retention rate have long-term supporters
who come back year after year. Nonprofits with a low
donor retention rate need to continually acquire new
donors or larger gifts to keep up. https://bloomerang.co/retention
• Donors are essential to the success of our mission. • Gifts and donations are not just “cash transactions.” • Donors are not merely a bunch of interchangeable, easily
replaceable credit cards, checkbooks and wallets. • No one “owes” us a gift just because our mission is worthy. • Acquiring first-time donors is easy, but keeping those donors
is hard. • Donors are investors. They invest in doing good. They expect
their investment to prosper, or they’ll invest somewhere else.

Good retention
DONOR CENTRIC
• Asking a donor why she or he gave a first gift to us will likely lead to an amazingly revealing conversation.
• Fundraising serves the donors’ emotional needs as much as it serves the organization’s financial needs.
• We are in the “feel good” business. Donors feel good when they help make the world a better place.
• A prime goal of fundraising communications is to satisfy basic human needs, such as the donor’s need to feel important and worthwhile.
• Every first gift can open a door to an entirely new world for the donor through participation in our cause.

Written by Simone Joyaux
Approximately 25% of donors stop giving because they find another cause they think is more deserving. This begs the question then is your message on point? Is your message consistent? Does it resonate with donors or are you doing something that people really don’t support? Is what you do effective year round?
How much do you really know about your donor? Have you taken the time to ask them what they like or even dislike concerning your program? How often do you communicate with your donor and NOT ask for money?

Consideraciones Finales
