Sub: Discrepancy in shaft dimension of Drive Pulley supplied by M/s. TRF Ltd., Jamshedpur.

acknowledged through E-mail dated 29-10-2013.
Brief description of complaint:
Drive Pulley DC-1, serial numbers 5 and 6, face to tapper portion is 93 mm as per drawing
but actual dimension measured is 188 mm due to this bearing block centre to centre
dimension could not be maintained.

Findings:
Based on the complaint referred above, we have further investigated the matter and
following are the findings.
Drive Pulley marked DC1, serial numbers 5 and 6 were offered for inspection before and
after the rubber lagging. Our Surveyors carried out visual, dimensional, run-out, static
balancing inspection as per the QAP and accepted vide inspection reports -
CHE11FLM004/KOLTRF2407121IMA and CHE12FLS006/KOLTRF2504131BBN. No dimensionaldeviations on the shafts were noticed during the inspection by our Surveyor.
On further investigation and interaction with the supplier, we understand that the
dimension (H+G) at coupling end of the shaft was made 440 mm instead of (382+157) 539
mm as per the drawing which resulted into shifting of bearing centre at the drive end. We
agree that this discrepancy in shaft dimension should have been noticed by our Surveyors
during inspection of the pulleys and highlighted in the inspection reports.
