Histologie / Histology
1. EPITEELWEEFSEL
selle dig teen mekaar,
min intersellulêre vloeistof, vesels en grondstof
bedek, voer uit, vorm kliere
beskerming, absorbsie, sekresie en sensories
2. BINDWEEFSEL
intersellulêre vloeistof, vesels en grondstof kenmerk hierdie
weefsel
onderskei tussen algemene en spesiale
ondersteuning, verbinding, energie-storing en immuniteit
3. SPIERWEEFSEL
verlengde, gespesialiseerde selle
genereer krag
beweging
4. SENUWEEWEEFSEL
gespesialiseerde selle met uitlopers
geleiding van impulse
kommunikasie
koördinasie
KENMERKE VAN EPITELE
diggepakte selle
aaneenlopende plate
besit vry oppervlakte
aansluitingskomplekse volop
nie bloedvate
basale seloppervlakte in kontak met basaalmembraan wat
bestaan uit twee lae
Characteristic structural features of Epithelia
Compact sheets of cells – ‘tailored’ into a variety of
shapes
Very little intercellular substance compactness
Cell junctions integrity of sheets, cell-to-cell
communication and other functions
Basement membranes
Avascularity … supporting tissue required

Bone as a Connective Tissue
• Bone forming cell – osteoblast
• Produces matrix around itself
• Calcium deposition – enzyme mediated
• Orderly deposition of microcrystals
• Hard matrix lacuna
• Osteocytes – resting cells, maintenance
• Must never be too far from a blood vessel
BEEN (Human femur, ground)Grondstof dood, sien net ruimtes. Kompakte been.
Structure of Compact Bone
Interstitial lamellae
Osteon
Cardiac Muscle
• Striated, yet “involuntary”
• Short cells (“Muscle fibres”)
• Branched cells
• Single, central nucleus
HARTSPIER:Hoofsaaklik lengtesnit. Soek ook rond om dwarssnit te sien.Kerne sentraal geleë in sarkoplasma. Daar is 'n helder sone om die kern. Kerne ook duideliker en nie so platgedruk. Vesels bestaan uit individuele selle. Vesels dwarsgestreep. Miofibrille is nie so duidelik in dwarssnit. Die vesels vertak. Soek anastomoses op lae vergroting. Interkalêre skywe. Vorm trappies. Aansluitings van die selle met mekaar. Bindweefsel tussen vesels met baie bloedvate daarin. Vetweefsel op plekke.
Dense regular connective tissue
Find the epidermis and identify the epithelium:
Name the epithelium ....…………………………………………………Give two reasons for deciding that this part of the section is epithelium………………………………………………………………………..Is the epithelium simple or stratified?................................................Are glands present?..........................................................................Are gland unicellular or multicellular?...............................................
Find the dermis:
Is it thick or thin in comparison to the epithelium?.............................Give one reason why you would classify the dermis as connective tissue………………………………………………………………………………………………Is the dermis loose, dense irregular, or regular in appearance?…………………………………………………………………………….
You are on a CSI team. An weapon has been found discarded in a dustbin some distance from a crime scene (only head injuries to the victim). Some tissue was found on the weapon. Can this weapon be linked to the crime scene by the nature of the tissue?
Name the tissue type ....…………………………………………………
Give two reasons for deciding this ………………………………………………………………………..
Motivate why this tissue can or cannot be from the victim…………………………………………………………………………………………….
