The Annual Quality Assurance Report of IQAC,
Year 2010-11
In pursuance of the National Action Plan of the NAAC, Bangalore, an Internal Quality
Assurance Cell (IQAC) has been established as a post accreditation quality sustenance measure
in our institution. IQAC has defined the objectives of our institution and worked out an action
plan to achieve the same.

The plan of action chalked out by IQAC towards quality enhancement outcome achieved by the
end of the year this consists of the continuation of already consisting programs partly achieved
and the new programs to be launched during the current year.
1. Use of modern education technology by equipping the institution with audio-visual and
multimedia technologies.
2. Training students in the art of public speaking.
3. Career counseling and creating an opportunity to attend campus interviews.
4. Providing better administrative support for students.
5. Arranging special lectures and industrial visits.
6. Organizing special programs for National Science Day.
7. Promoting extra-curricular activities.

Students and the faculty.

(1) Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the Institution
a. Non Academic support to students to overcome their personal hurdles.
b. Scholarships and Awards have been fully utilized.
c. Cash Awards to toppers.
d. Participation of students in Cultural and Sports competition has been increasing. The
talents among the students are identified, encouraged and trained in the filed of their talent.
They are also provided a platform to venture their talent. This has resulted in the regular
increase in the number of Awards and this has provided a better identity to the institution.

Since June 2004 the semester system has been introduced by University of Mysore and
syllabus has been change, incorporating latest developments. Teachers are well equipped
themselves to face the new challenges i.e., latest developments in their subject field, and also
facilitated them to attend various seminars and workshops in their subjects.

(22) Courses in which Students assessment of teachers is introduced and action taken on student
feedback :
As per the guidelines from NAAC, every year ‘students feedback on teachers’ academic
performance is recorded in the prescribed proforma. Accordingly necessary action has been
initiated.

(24)Computerization of administration, process of admission, examination, results and issue of
certificates :
Salary is computerized- ECS mode of Salary disbursement has been adopted.
(25) Increase in infrastructure facilities :
i. The College building is under the maintenance of State Public Works Department. It has
taken several steps to provide basic necessities for the teaching and non teaching staff. Apart
from this, part of the funds is also being invested on the renovation of the existing building.
ii. The interiors of the Principal’s Chambers has been aesthetically renovated by the generous
funds from current Principal Smt.H.G.Pankaja.
iii. The Principal’s Chamber and other departments have received new furniture.
iv. At the Department level improvements in the infrastructure is as follows

(26) Technology up gradation:
Computerization of the existing Library is in the process.
A few departments in the college are well equipped with hi-tech audio visual teaching
aids like LCD Projector and system for power point Presentation.
(27) Computer and Internet access and training to teachers & Students;
Computer Labs are provided with a few more Advance Computer Systems.
Computer and Internet facilities have been provided to all the faculties of the College.

Science Students are sent to Placement interview at St.Philomina College and MIT., Mysore.

Three of the office personnel were sent to Computer Handling and HRMS training of 3
month duration.

Various competitions are held at the college level to inculate cutural values and healthy
competitive spirits among the students.
Educational tours are being practiced.
Few teaching staff are invited as resource persons by various institutions.
The institution brings out a tri-monthly college newsletter.

The institution is proud to declare that it has been recognized as one of the centers for
‘EDUSAT’ programme to be launched in collaborator with ISRO and VTU.
All the preparations are going on briskly to implement the programmes of edusat.
The institution has 3 recognized research guides for M.Phil.
Several Research papers have come out from the institution in various National –
International Journals.
Several Staff members have presented / participated in various national and international
campus, seminars, and workshops symposia.

PART- C: Action Plan achieved
a) New Building with Principal Chamber, Staff Room for both Teaching and Non-Teaching,
Class Rooms and Utilities for both Faculty and Students.
b) Additional Laboratories for Physics and Computer Science has been Established.
c) Student strength and Percentage of Results have been increased.

PLANS OF THE INSTITUTION FOR NEXT ACADEMIC
YEAR 2011-2012.
Preparation for NAAC Re-Accreditation
The NAAC re accreditation process of the College is in progress and it is expected to
be completed in the academic year 2012-13. In connection with the re-accreditation, it is
decided to give more effort on this process this year. All students and faculty members
are requested to give more effort in this direction. The following recommendations are
made.
To update the resume of all faculty members and personal files.
To update all relevant documents of the Departmental activities.
To expedite the preparation of the NAAC Re-Accreditation Report, and to submit it
by the end of Mar-2012.
To finish the maintenance of various buildings and beautification process of the
garden during vacation itself.

Work diary System
The system will include recording of the data regarding the classes engaged and
topics taught every day by the faculty members.
Remedial Teaching and Enrichment Programmes
The remedial classes for the academically weak students, and enrichment
programmes for the fast learners to be continued. It is also decided to bring more
students under the purview of both programmes and deploy more teachers for engaging
remedial classes.
Augmenting of the Computer Facility.
We have decided to expand the computer facilities. Necessary steps to be taken for
upgrading the website of the College with provision for submitting application forms for
admission to various courses online.
Examinations
Two terminal test papers and a University ‘model’ examination at the end of the year
or semester are planned along with the routine test papers for the continuous evaluation
of students.
Activities of Various Academic Associations
All academic associations are requested to conduct at least ten programmes every
year including talks and seminars on various topics of their study. Apart from inviting
renowned resource persons for talks on various topics, it is also requested to instruct
bright students to make such talks and seminars themselves.
Career Guidance and Placement Cell
The activities of the career guidance and placement cell, with a view to enrich the
confidence of students, in attending recruitment programmes are planned for the next
year. Coaching classes for improving the performance of students in aptitude tests,
group discussion, and personality development are chalked out. Awareness programmes
on the scope various courses will be organized.

Social Services.
The NSS unit of the College is requested to take the initiative for organizing more
social activities.
Research activities
It is decided to encourage the faculty members to attend/present papers in national
and international conferences, and seminars, without affecting their routine work in
the College. It is also requested to submit proposals for minor and major projects to
various funding agencies.
Sports and Games Activities
The achievements in various sports and games competitions are to be improved.
