The purpose of this presentations is to understand well what is term LGBT
Research towards a new titleAfter meeting up with our teacher we have learnt about LBGT.- We had to research on the “new” term “LGBT community “- It helped us to understand that they would find offensive to be called homosexuals
LGBT - refers to "lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender" people
• Before the sexual revolution of the 1960s, they didn’t know how to call the non-heterosexuality; so in that
time the closest term they could find was, "third gender“
• The term “homosexual” were first used in 1950s, this term had a negative
connotations, and tended to be replaced by homophile. Then in the
1970s the term gay and lesbian became more used and accepted.
• People started to use the term LGBT in 1988 in United of States, but not until the 1990s did it become common to speak of gay, lesbian, bisexual and
transgender people with equal respect within the movement.
