Ministry of Health and Social Improvement
The vision of the Ministry of Health is as follows: �The Ministry is committed to ensure the existence of acceptable health care, since it can be viewed as a mirror through which the health of the Nation can be seen.� The mission of the Ministry of Health is �to facilitate and sustain improvement in health and social situations of the citizens of Antigua and Barbuda.� To achieve the mission, the following critical success factors1 are cited (source Health and Related Social Services): Review and amendment of the health and social related legislations and formation
of new legislation where appropriate;
Strengthening the databases for timely collection and analysis of data for use in policy decisions and planning; and
Upgrade and expansion of district facilities and empowerment of public to be responsible for their own health.
The vision for Social Improvement is to be �an excellent provider of Social Services, enhancing the lives of our people, with the highest levels of professionalism and integrity.� Its mission is �To provide services to the elderly, destitute children, churches and the physically challenged in our society through sound policies and commitment to their upliftment and enhancement with an emphasis on rigorous training for greater efficiency.�
