What is Ubiquitous IT?
▣Ubiquitous computing, or calm technology, is a paradigm shift where technology becomes virtually invisible in our lives. Instead of having a desk-top or lap-top machine, the technology we use will be embedded in our environment.
▣From the ubiquitous computing page at Xerox PARC [UBPARC]. we have the following description: imagine a world with hundreds of wireless computing devices of different sizes in the same room.
▣In order to bring this type of computing out into the environment, among the things we need to rethink are user interfaces, displays, operating systems, networks, and wireless communications.

What is Ubiquitous Technology?
▣Ubiquitous Technologies deals with only one type of client; an honest client. However, the industries and types of clients that we deal with vary.
▣Ubiquitous Technologies has two basic services: Network Implementation (Design) and Software Development.
RFID
●RFID or Radio Frequency Identification is a technology that enables the tracking or identification of objects using IC based tags with an RF circuit and antenna, and RF readers that "read" and in some case modify the information stored in the IC memory.
Ubiquitous Sensor Network
◈A "ubiquitous sensor network" is a network that connects both environmental sensors (e.g., stationary cameras that capture human behavior from various positions) and wearable sensors (e.g., sensors that record the wearer's line of vision). This technology allows us to record a wide variety of human behaviors.
Augmented Reality (AR)
▣Augmented Reality (AR) is a growing area in virtual reality research. The world environment around us provides a wealth of information that is difficult to duplicate in a computer. This is evidenced by the worlds used in virtual environments. Either these worlds are very simplistic such as the environments created for immersive entertainment and games, or the system that can create a more realistic environment has a million dollar price tag such as flight simulators. An augmented reality system generates a composite view for the user. It is a combination of the real scene viewed by the user and a virtual scene generated by the computer that augments the scene with additional information
. Wearable Computers
▣Wearable computers may be designed to accommodate a variety of uses. The range spans single-function devices such as a communicator or remote control and extends into complex systems employing sensors, high speed processing and distribution along both local and wide area network connections.
Intelligent Agent
▣Agents are designed to make computing easier. Currently they are used as Web browsers, news retrieval mechanisms, and shopping assistants. By specifying certain parameters, agents will "search" the Internet and return the results directly back to your PC.
. Context Awareness
▣The notion of context awareness for devices itself can be split up into three components: activity, environment and self. The activity describes the task the user is performing at the moment, or more generally what his or her behaviour is. This aspect of context is focused on the user of the device, and his or her habits. The environment describes what the status is of the physical and social surroundings of the user. The current location, the activities in the environment and other extern properties like for instance temperature or humidity belong to this axis.
Home Network
▣A home network is two or more computers interconnected to form a local area network (LAN) within the home.
▣There are five types of home networks, two that use wire connections and three that use wireless connections:
IPv6
▣IPv6 is short for "Internet Protocol Version 6". IPv6 is the "next generation" protocol designed by the IETF to replace the current version Internet Protocol, IP Version 4 ("IPv4").
New Generation Mobile
▣A new generation of mobile applications is about to change your life in a very personal way and significantly accelerate the market adoption of mobile data services in the process.
The Next Generation PC
▣The next generation PC will be a simple robust tool for mass service delivery. It needs a new business model to to happen. Only PC industry monopolies and unenlightened ignorance are stopping us. This blog explains this situation, and how the future can be delivered.
Embedded Software
▣Many electronic systems, such as modems, digital cellular phones, disk drives, multimedia systems, video conferencing systems, and robotics, perform a combination of signal processing, communications, and control algorithms. The signal processing algorithms might be mapped into software for digital signal processors, or onto dedicated or configurable hardware. The communication and control algorithms might be mapped into software for microcontrollers, or onto dedicated or configurable hardware. The systems are heterogeneous in that they contain a variety of algorithms implemented by a variety of software and hardware technologies.
Ubiquitous City
▣ "This will be a city unrooted to any definite spot on the surface of the earth, shaped by connectivity and bandwidth constraints rather than be accessibility and land values, largely asynchronous in its operation, and inhabited by disembodied and fragmented subjects who exist as collection of aliases and agents. Its places will be constructed virtually by software instead of physically from stones and timbers, and they will be connected by logical linkages rather than by doors, passageways, and streets."
