Getting Started
• Choosing your fabrics– Choose a color
scheme– Combine fabrics
with large and small print scales
– Place fabrics to get contrast between prints and colors
Cutting Fabric
• In order for the pieces to fit precisely, every piece must be cut accurately
• Trace pattern piece onto fabric
• Use a rotary cutter, mat and ruler for accuracy

• Saves time – can cut through several layers of fabric at once
• Place fabric on the mat• Disengage the safety mechanism• Place a ruler or cutting edge along
the marked line• Roll the blade along the cutting edge

Making the 9 Square Quilt
• Carefully pin each row together
• For a precise fit, sew all seam allowances ¼ inch.
• Begin stitching slowly, removing the pins as you sew.
• Finish your pillow following directions
