The ROCKPROFIL Cassette Systemis a dedicated
thermal insulation wall cladding system. It is recommen-
ded for use as a light prefabricated element for the exter-
nal perimeter and internal par tition walls of buildings.
The ROCKPROFIL Cassette System uses common metallic
elements load-bearing wall cassettes with stone wool
thermal insulation infill, covered on the external side
by sheet-metal cladding.
The ROCKPROFILCassette System is applicable as a curtain
wall element for steel or concrete load-bearing framed
structures without limitation.
The system can also be fixed to l oad-bearing walls and
beam fillings (for example large and/or heavy concrete
or aerated concrete panel walls, as well as to brick
or block masonry). It can be used as both a ver tical
and horizontal cladding with an external sheet-metal
aesthetic.
Overview of the ROCKPROFILE
Cassette System
The ROCKPROFIL Cassette System
is similar to traditional cassette walls,
but it has the added advantage
of reducing linear cold bridges
at cassette noses. This, in turn,
reduces the total thermal loss
of the wall.
The ROCKPROFIL Cassette Systemis therefore suitable
everywhere there is a requirement for a low heat transfer
coefficient (U value) as par t of an overall narrow build
depth ie. a slim total wall thickness.
Its use is also highly appropriate for cladding walls
where the specification is to fulfil an ambitious level
of heat transfer coefficient its application minimises
the energy requirements for heating buildings. In addition
to these key features specific to the ROCKPROFIL Cassette
System, are all the other beneficial properties of traditional
cassette curtain walls simple and reliable systems,
productive and variable assembly possibilities, good
acoustic properties, a small number of standard
components yet with the option to choose different
claddings on the external wall side. Further, this system
is very economical to install and maintain, providing
a good return on investment costs.
Because the ROCKPROFIL system suppresses the effects
of cold bridging, the stone wool thermal insulation therein
performs around 40% more efficiently than an equivalent
quality and thickness of insulation within a traditional
cassette wall.

Insulation bat Airrock ND for ROCKPROFIL is 40 mm over the cassette nose
The ROCKPROFIL Cassette System
description
The ROCKPROFIL Cassette System has been specially
designed to prevent is cold bridges at cassette noses with
the help of overlapping stone wool thermal insulation
batts, inserted within thecassettes. While the load-bearing
cassettes and external cladding elements are standard
ones, the fixings for the external cladding are special
distance fastening screws. These are anchored to cassette
noses while, at the same time, being able to secure
a cladding element at 40 mm distance from the cassette
nose. The insulation component is a single layer of multi-
purpose stone wool batts which provide thermal, acoustic
and fire resistant protection to the structure.
The installation format allows for the insulation layer
to be inserted into the cassette while also forming a 40 mm
overlap covering the cassette noses. This arrangement
eliminates air gaps at all the horizontal joints of the
insulation batts. In essence, the ROCKPROFIL Cassette
System comprises standard components with the exception
of a few specified named products. It is regarded as an
open system, especially suited for the use of different
external cladding options (trapezoidal and corrugated
metal plates, external cassettes, non-metallic combined
tabular claddings onto system grids etc.).

The ROCKPROFIL Cassette System
basic components
1.Horizontal zinc-coated steel load-bearing cassette,
generally varnished, height 600 mm, depth H (mm)
sealing, fastening and fixing accessories for cassette.
2.Plinth supported or top suspended continuous steel sheet-metal element (protecting against vertical
displacement of cladding hanging down). The special
fixtures ensure its static performance with the cassettes,
plus its regular prole of zinc-coated steel with a minimum
thickness of 1.25 mm. This element defines a fixed
point for the cladding from which thermal movement
is accommodated as vertical cladding elements expand
or contract. It is best to suspend supporting elements
by fixing from the warmer top end on buildings where
significant thermal movement is anticipated.
3.Thermal insulation batt Airrock ND (for the ROCKPROFIL
System), size 610 mm x 1,000 mm x (H + 40) mm. There
is an option for the batt to be produced with a black
glass fleece on the visible front face (suitable in the
case of opaque or other visible over cladding) or on the
rear face (in the case of acoustic perforated cassettes);
insulation batt with non-woven texture is marked
as Airrock ND FB1 (for the ROCKPROFIL System).
4.Distance screws SDC2-S-S16-5.5 x 63 mm (stainless
steel) or SDC2-T-A16-5.5 x 63 mm (heat-treated carbon
steel) with sealed washers made by SFS Intec for fixing
vertically oriented external sheet-metal plate to cassette
noses at a flat or slightly curved low wave position (for
instance sinusoidal corrugated plates).
A. For vertical external cladding
5.A. External formed sheet-metal cladding, for zinc-coated
steel with minimum thickness of 0.75 mm, fastening
accessories for the external formed sheet-metal
cladding (for longitudinal seams and plinth supporting/
top suspended profile).
6.A.Elements of tinsmith-external cladding completion.
7.A.Supplementary facade components (ventilation grids,
shutters, sealing collars etc.).
B. For horizontal external cladding
5.B. Vertically mounted grid of zinc-coated steel (eventually
varnished) with OMEGA-shape profiles anchored
to cassette noses at load-bearing locations by two
distance screws SDC2-T-A16-5.5 x 63 mm (heat-treated
carbon steel); regular OMEGA profiles with minimum
steel thickness of 1.00 mm, with minimum height
of 40 mm, oriented in such a way that their flanges lie
on the surface of the overlapping stone wool insulation
Airrock ND (for the ROCKPROFIL System).
6.B. Other external cladding components according to the
construction design, standard fixing to the OMEGA
profile.
Note 1:For roundsheet-metal formed plates with low wave or for achie-
ving of greater aesthetic effect of the external cladding, it is possible to
replace the basic distance screws with hexagonal head SD C2-S or SDC2-T
screws which have an attractive so-called irius ??? appearance with teeth
under the head L12 -marked as SDC2-S-L12 or SDC2-T-L12. For rapid and
high-quality assembly of all SFS Intec screws, special self-locking adaptors
made by SFS intec are recommended (type E 480 for hexagonal heads
and E 420 for L12 irius heads), which are attached by renewable jaws.
Note 2:Continuous steel sheet-metal plinth supported or top sus-
pended prole (protecting against vertical displacement of clad-
ding hanging down) ensures xing to ver tical OMEGA grid and
its static performance with cassettes, regular prole from zinc-
coated steel with minimum thickness of 1.25 mm. This element
denes a xed point of the cladding from which the vertical
grid can expand. The most suitable placing of supportingelement is at the warmed-up attic.

The ROCKPROFIL Cassette System has superior fire performance when
compared to the behaviour of traditional cassette walls with corresponding
parameters (eg. the same cassette depth and metal plate thickness, the same
thickness and quality of stone wool insulation, the same external sheet-metal
cladding). Test results for the ROCKPROFIL System according to EN 13501-2 are:
E 120 (io); EI 30 (io); EW 60 (io); E 120-ef (oi); EI 30-ef (oi);
EW 60-ef (oi). More details on fire classifications are available upon request.
During a unique fire demonstration in Mokrsko (CZ) month/year?, a testbuilding was erected and set on fire especially to show the excellent fire
protection performance of the ROCKPROFIL System.
The first group of conditions relates to the specific
components used:
a) External formed sheet-metal plate (trapezoidal
or corrugated) must be from zinc-coated steel
of minimum thickness 0.75 mm (or with regard to
stiffness, of equivalent aluminium plate or aluminium
alloy plate, e.g. minimum thickness of 1.00 mm).
b)For the assembly of vertical metal plates or secondary
vertical grid for horizontal or oblique external claddings,
only the recommended type of SDC-2 screw made by
SFS intec should be used.
c) Thermal insulating properties declared in this Assembly
Manual refer only to the recommended insulation material
Airrock ND (for the ROCKPROFIL System) with a 40 mm
overlap of insulation over the cassette nose. In addition,
any further or nondescript mouldings, Z-profiles, grids,
other structures or components shall not be inserted
in the area of the facade which includes the overlapping
insulation.
d) There is a reduction of the static properties of load-
bearing cassettes in the ROCKPROFIL Cassette System
Compulsory Conditions
for a Guaranteed Application
by comparison with the static properties of the same
cassettes when applied in a system comprising straight
fastened vertically clad trapezoidal metal plates secured
by short screws through the separation tape (so called
classical cassette curtain wall). Under the same static
scheme, factors determining the reduction in load-bearing
capacity are the cassette type used, its metal plate
thickness, external cladding sheet-metal thickness and
the spacing system of the distance screws. It is necessary
to check the potential static performance in collaboration
with the manufacturer, the supplier or the cassette importer.
The second group of conditionsconcerns the instructions given
totechnical staff and the practical
training of construction crews who
will be personally participating
in the pre -assembly operation or
the mounting installation on site.
Besides its thermal and fire protection capability, ROCKPROFIL also provides
excellent acoustic properties. These were measured in CSI Prague month/year?
on actual model buildings giving results for weighted laboratory air-borne
sound reduction Rwup to 45 dB.
Note:All stated acoustic parameter measurements have been taken e according to internationalISO standards and the accredited testing reports for an actual project are available on request.

Thermal insulation properties
Preparation of external metal sheet cladding
The thermal protection of the building is one of the
most important characteristics for designers to consider.
A ROCKPROFIL Cassette System specification makes it
possible to achieve a first-class energy-conserving building
envelope and save costs for heating. Actual thermal
performance values were measured in a Weiss air-condi-
tioning chamber by standardised methods. From two
measurements with total insulation thicknesses of 155 mm
and 175 mm, an accurate interpolation and extrapolation
was made for insulation thicknesses from 120 to 200 mm.

The ROCKPROFIL Cassette System has reduced static para-
meters compared to so-called traditional cassette curtain wall
systems with straight assembled vertical trapezoidal metal
plates using the same cassette, insulation and trapezoidal
metal plates. This is due to the performance of the longer
fastening screws. Reduction coefficients of load-bearing
cassette capacities are established by combined experimental
and calculation methods. These coeffi cients are dependent
Short description of installation
1.Install the load-bearing cassettes of the specified type
it is recommended that the cassette nose for the first
cassette at the lowest level (if it is convenient) be cut off.
Assembly
manual
The Assembly Manual briefly describes basic operations
and presumes background knowledge of metal cladding
components, building ironmongery and the work of the
insulation contractor in the assembly team. Prior to the
cladding installation, the construction site must be
adequately prepared and surveyed. Scaffolding will need
to be erected, components supplied and the contractors
will study the projects design documentation.
The detailed Assembly Manual is available upon
request.
2.Prepare and mount the supporting profile.
3.I nsert Airrock ND from the top downwards and cover
the cassette noses. Staggering the rows of insulation
batts is necessary at cassette noses to prevent the
formation of vertical gaps, thereby providing complete
thermal integrity.
4.Mount header and reveal joists at windows, doors
and gates and install all flashing components that
cannot be bedded in after the external cladding has
been fixed.
5.Fasten the vertical external metal sheet or OMEGA
profiles according to the building design using screws
SDC2 S S16 5.5 x 63 mm.
6.Continue the assembly according to the facade
diagram and instructions for installation.
Static Parameters
on metal plate thickness and width, cassette nose shape,
and the pattern of distance screws etc. Detailed data must
be determined by the designer with help from the cassette
supplier and taking into account the inuence of load to the
building from external forces (for instance from wind), height
and shape of the building, the surrounding terrain and any
other relevant local site conditions. More details about these
parameters are available upon request.
