St. Bede Church
2 — Twenty‐ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time ∙ October 22, 2017
Have you missed any Sacraments? Want to receive them? Would you like to become a Catholic?
R.C.I.A. — Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is a process for adults interested in learning more about the Catholic faith in order to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. This process is for all women and men who are not baptized or baptized in another Christian church and in need of further instruction or initiation, or those baptized in the Catholic Church but needing more instruction to complete the sacraments of initiation. Persons never baptized are referred to as catechumens, while those previously baptized are called candidates. For more information and details regarding classes, please contact Mark Buckley at 847‐587‐2301.

Fall Updates
Halloween Hustle Many thanks to Tina Lutzke and all of her team for their organizing of the Halloween Hustle fun run to benefit the school!
Formed.org As you’ve seen in the bulletin, we have subscribed to an online media resource called “Formed.” The parish pays an annual subscription. It is entirely free to you, and the parish code can be used by an unlimited number of people. So give out the code and use it yourself! The website has movies, documentaries, podcasts and other ways to learn more about the faith.
Renew my Church The discernment groups from the parishes are going over the responses gathered at the various parish conversations. If you want to fill out the online survey, you have until Monday, October 23. The link is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RMCLakeRegion There is a writing committee of the group that is putting together an initial draft of the report to be sent to the Archbishop’s commission. That report will be finalized after the last parish conversation on November 9 (and the last of the discernment group meetings the week following).
Church Repairs We have begun the repair of the church’s roof and masonry. Once the work is completed, we will have to wait for rain to see if the repairs solved the water invasion problem. Once we have confirmed that the problem has been addressed, we will fix and repaint the plaster in the interior.

Dear Parishioners,
As you are aware, our parish recently held an informational session for the Archdiocese’s ongoing Renew My Church effort. This session was an opportunity to learn about potential new scenarios for parish life in the local area. We are offering the parishioners another alternative for viewing the informational video presented at that meeting, as well as an opportunity to provide feedback on the scenarios through an online survey. You can access the survey at the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RMCLakeRegion This survey link is now open and will close at 5:00 PM on Monday, October 23rd. In Christ,
Fr. Shawn

Visit the Church Library
“Story of a Soul” (in the Saints section) is the inspirational autobiography of St. Thérèse of Lisieux. Here, expressed with all of Therese’s original spontaneity and fervor, we rediscover the great
themes of her spirituality; confidence and love, the “little way”, abandonment to God’s merciful love, and her “mission” in the church and world today. The library is located in Coleman Hall. To sign out a book, just put your name, date (month/day/year) and phone number on the card (located on the book’s inside cover) and put the card in the “Signed Out Books” holder. When returning the book, put it on the shelf marked “Returns” and we’ll replace it in the library.

Families and the Gospel — Twenty‐ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jesus was exasperated when he scolded: “Why do you put me to the test?” It is natural for children to test parents; this is how they learn and how we teach limits, rules and values. Be like Jesus in today’s gospel; he was firm, honest and direct.
