Eachbus stop has a Stop ID number thatyou can reference when you phone ortext. Look for the Stop ID number onmost bus stop pole signs or on the web. Visit www.actransit.org/realtime formore info.

Printed Maps & SchedulesWe publish two system maps that together cover the AC Transit servicearea: San Pablo to Oakland, and San Leandro to Fremont. We also publish individual pocket scheduleswith a route map for each bus line.

Using Pocket SchedulesMost pocket schedules list several ofthe bus stops along the route, with thetimes the bus is expected to arrive ateach stop. These stops are called “timepoints.” There are usually additionalbus stops between the time points. Justfind the time point closest to where youare starting your AC Transit trip andread down the column under the timepoint in order to find the time youneed to be at the bus stop.

Boarding the BusBus stops are marked with the AC Transit logo and display the buslines that stop there. Most bus lineshave stops every few blocks. Makesure you are on the correct side of thestreet for your direction of travel. Waitfor the bus as close as possible to thebus stop pole to make it easier for thebus operator to see you. You don’thave to signal the bus, but doing sowill help ensure that the operatordoesn’t miss you by mistake. When thebus arrives, check the line number orletter to make sure it’s the bus you want.

Stopping the BusRequest your stop by pulling the cord, pressing the button on the pole, orpressing the button above your head(on the green, commuter-style buses). The “Stop Requested” sign will light. Ifyou are not sure when your stop willbe coming up, ask the operator to letyou know.

AccessibilityAll AC Transit buses have built-in features—passenger lifts, ramps, handrails, and kneelers—that make iteasier for seniors and persons withdisabilities to ride. Priority seating isclearly marked on every bus with signsabove or near the seats. If you are asenior or a person with a disability, you may ask the operator to remindnon-disabled passengers to vacate aseat for you.

Bringing Your BicycleAll AC Transit buses have a rack onthe front for two bikes. You may load a bicycle at any time of day, with noextra fare or permit. Cyclists must loadand unload their own bikes.
