Why a High Speed Train ?
A rail-line can carry more passengers as a eight lane highway.
The capital cost to adding another 4 lanes to a highway or a HSR line are comparable.

US Electrified Track vs. US Diesel Train
Incremental Speed is Part of VHS Success
VHS (>150MPH to 220MPH) must be electrified and should form the main feedercorridors
HS (100MPH to 125 MPH) can be done with diesel power, and obviously would havecheaper infrastructure.
Global technology can be transferred to USA for VHS application.
Incremental HS solutions are available in the USA.

American Style 100-125MPH Trains,Non-Tilting
European Style Tilting Trains EMU Style
Tilting vs. Non-Tilting:
Intermediate High Speed Technology
Many US locations will not benefit from TiltingTechnology.
Speed of Locomotive hauled trains are often limitedby the locomotive dynamics.
Track design and maintenance must be aligned totilting.
VHSR does not use tilting technology...

Double Deck increases line capacity:
SNCFs success with VHS led to increased capacitydemands on many lines.
Today SNCF purchase only Duplex trains.
Future demand increase to be considered

Passenger Safety is Paramount:
High Speed Rail : the safest mode of transportation
Trainsets to be designed and tested to ensure:.
- Car Shell Design Integrity
- Proven articulated cars with trucks between cars
(enhanced rigidity) for VHS.- Crash Resistance / Impact Resistance
- Safety design of Passenger Compartment Interiors
Automatic Train Control [PTC] is imperative.
