Dear The 2015 AAAI Travel Scholarship Selection Committee:

I am delighted to write a letter of recommendation for Ms. Frances Coronel, who is applying for the

Travel Scholarship to attend the 2015 AAAI Conference.

France is a sophomore in Computer Science at Hampton University. She started her freshman year

in Spring 2014. France spent her Fall 2014 studied aboard. I have known France as her Academic

Advisor and then in Summer 2014 as her instructor, when she took Computer Programming II (CSC152) with me.

Though a bit quite in the classroom, France always asked questions and for help when she needed it.She proudly earned an “A-” from CSC 152. Frances’ academic performance is astounding. Her

    current GPA is a 3.85 on a 4.1 scale.

This year, Frances has been appointed as the Vice-President of the Women in Computing Club.

France is also a member of Associate in Computing Machinery (ACM) Student Chapter, andHampton STARS (Student & Technology in Academia, Research, & Service) Leadership Corps.

She is one of departmental peer-tutors and also a mentor to incoming freshmen.

Frances is a bright, talented young Computer Science,  Hispanic, female student, who strive to doher very best. France has expressed to me her desire to pursue a graduate degree program in

Artificial Intelligence. This will be the first Artificial Intelligence conference for France. I have no

doubt that she will be inspired by presentations of and conversations with speakers and other

attendees in Artificial Intelligence community. This will help shaping up her on her undergraduateresearch project. Therefore, I strongly recommend Ms. Frances Coronel to receive the 2015 AAAI

    Travel Scholarship.

Should you have any question, please feel free to contact me at [email protected] (757) 727-5082.

    Sincerely,

    Chutima Boonthum-Denecke, Ph.D.

    Associate Professor of Computer Science
