CAREER OBJECTIVE
To excel in the field of Library and Information Centre with IT environment and to obtain the zenith of my career through the knowledge & skills for the excellence of the organization & my own development.
Professional career (write up in brief)
Presently I am working as Scientific Officer – C, at IUCAA, Pune and graduate with BSc, Master in library and information science and PhD in LIS from Pune University and also qualified NET (UGC) in LIS. I have 30 papers in my credit and attended 15 national/international conferences/workshops and presented papers. Recently one of PhD based research paper has been published in the international journal Aslib Proceeding (ISSN: 0001-253X), Vol. 65 (2013), which has high impact; factor in the filed of LIS. We (library team) had also organized international conference in Conferences on Library and Information Services in Astronomy (LISA-VI) during Feb 14-17, 2010, and around 120 LIS professional participated from all over the world included 100 from foreign countries. Before it we had also organized Workshop on Open Source Standards and Software in Libraries: Spotlight on NewGenLib,
during Sept. 17-19, 2008.Recently attended International conference LISA-VII VII at INAF Astronomical Observatory of Capodimonte on the theme: Open Science at the Frontiers of Librarianship at , Naples, Italy during 17-20 June 2014 and IASLIC XXIX All India Conference - 2013 at NIV, Pune during Dec 26-29, 2013.

Presently working as Scientific Officer-C at IUCAA Library and officiates as in-charge library (OIC) (till April 2012)
and managing responsibilities of HoD, library administration and management to report high authority, with
additional responsibilities assigned by Director, IUCAA as works related to enhance e-resources for IUCAA
library for users as web of science/others important e-resources of AA related to get from consortium/on
subscription based.

coordination, example, and delegation, and responsible for establishing library budgets, planning purchases and
expenditures.

- Digital library activities and services: With the initiate to Digital library activities and services and with experience
attain by me from the attended Workshop on Building Digital Archive using advanced features of Greenstone Digital
Library Software and Training Workshop on Building Digital Libraries, using Dspace to create archive for IUCAA
photo-gallery, lectures/ presentation given in conference/workshop being held in IUCAA and archive of news
clipping about IUCAA collected from different newspapers received in library and had created archives.
- Being library professional, we have Created archive in NAS (Network Attached Server) my jobs is to collect, organize
and manage information resources in a variety of such documents/books, periodicals including print and online,
DVDs, CDs and cassettes along with online e-resources such as free/open sources archive/database as well as
negotiate being consortium member for commercial database/archive as per users requirements.

- IUCAA Preprint (Research Papers): Responsible for display IUCAA preprints received in the library from
scientists/users which involves assigning a preprint number, displaying the same in the library preprint display area,
distribution of the preprints as per the author’s mailing list and making the e-access to the preprints accessible from
the IUCAA library Homepage.
- Reprint/Page Charge Section: - Responsible for to create & send reprint/page charge order of member’s
manuscripts, and keep its record, including making its inward register of reprint/page charge year wise.
- Reference Service: Providing reference service to the in-house scientific community/visiting associates/visitors as
well as requests received from outside through our available collection/ Internet/ Intranet as well as through Inter-
library loan and keeps interaction with visitors and visiting associates to enhance the library services as well as
improve shortcoming if any by discussing with them on time to time for improvements of library services and assist
to IUCAA members / Associates/ Senior Associates/ visitors for our online facilities of journals as how to search the
references/ required information through Internet.
- And responsible for jobs such as weeded out task of duplicate issues, miscellaneous publications, non-scientific
journals of journals, works related to binding works of loose issues of journals, circulation works, annual physical
verification of library documents, reader permit application, handle the library Science students visit programs, and

handle institutional membership of British Council Library and American Center.
- We have also initiates many new things as Institutional repository with help of Dspace software, which includes our
in house publication as Khagol Bulletin, Annual reports, our eminent scientists’ publication collection in digitised
form and news paper clippings, etc. we have also make and keep update homepage Faculty Jobs in India and keep
regular updates. We are also in process to developing web 2.0 based library services viz Dynamics library
homepage, Blogs, RSS feeds, etc.
- We have also maintained collections of lectures in recorded videos of our in-house scientists and visiting scientists
which being managed and being available online on intranet with help of NAS server
- We have also maintains our CD/DVD collection with help of NAS server and keep all online for our in-house users.
We are part of FORSA group (Forum for Resource Sharing in Astronomy) and actively participated in consortium
subscription of journal/s. We have also common OPAC of all members of FORSA group libraries.
