Whichever malt you first decide to try, there is a certain ceremony in the tasting.Begin by selecting a tulip shaped glass. The wide waist and no-arrow rim will capture and concentrate the aroma far better than a conventional whisky tumbler. Next pour a measure of your chosen malt, warm the glass for a moment in your hand then swirl and inhale the “nose”. There a those who prefer to sip malt on its own like a cognac. However, the most general custom in Scotland is to add a little water before tasting - Preferably still Highland Spring water, never sparkling. Then nose again to discover how the water unlocks a more complex character.

Only then allow yourself the pleasure of sipping and scenting. Enjoy the initial thrill of the spirit, the smooth feel as it rolls over the tongue and the lingering finish. Single Malt Scottish WhiskyAberlour Sherry Wood, 15 y.o. 70,-The whisky is golden dark and stored in sherry casks, and the tasteis extra soft, rich and balanced.

An Cnoc Vintage Single Malt, 14 y.o. 65,-A bottling of this light, aperitif-style Speyside made without chili filtration, which should produce a slightly more textured whisky.

Ardbeg Uigeadail Malt 100,-Ardbeg Uigeadail (pronounced ”Oog-a-dal”) is a special vatting that marries Ardbeg’s traditional deeo, smoky notes with luscious, raisiny tones of old ex-Sherry casks. It’s non chill-filtered at high strenght, which retains maximum flavour and gives more body and added depth.

The Balvenie, 15 y.o. - 47,8% 100,-Islay cask. Smoky sweetness and tones of orange peel and lemon.

Bowmore Legend - 40,0% 55,-Crafted from a selection of the finest North American bourbon barrels, which help to bring out its trademark characteristics. Bowmore Legend is a fitting tribute to the very first Islay malt. So much so that it has become something of a legend in its own right, among single malt whisky lowers everywhere.

Nikka From the Barrel - 51,4 % . 65,-Immediately sweet with a slow implosion of peat that seems to arise from nowhere.

Canadian Club 40,-Matured in oak casks. The only whisky that is pre-blended, smooth delicate taste, easy to drink and produced by the blend of rye, corn and barley.

Jack Daniels - 40,0% 45,-Tennessee sour Mask Bourbon. A characterful whiskey with an intensely dry, aromatic lightness.

Baker’s Bourbon 7 y.o. – 53,5% 50,-A powerful small-batch bourbon which utilises a special kind of yeast for extra smoothness. Rich and intense, and a perfect substitute for an after-dinner Cognac.

Booker’s Bourbon 8 y.o. – 62,45 % 55,-From Kentucky. Made by Booker Noe who is the grandson of Jim Beam. The Bourbon is full of flavour, and has a nice hot, sweet caramel taste.
