The use of resonant structures in pressuretransducers has long been recognised as producinghighly stable sensors. Druck have developed thistechnology to produce a series of Resonant PressureTransducers (RPT) using silicon to give high accuracyand stability with low manufacturing costs.

The silicon structure, which is manufactured withinDruck’s own class 100 silicon processing facility, is amulti-layer construction with the resonator andpressure sensitive diaphragm micro-machined fromone piece of silicon.

The resonator is bonded to a second silicon wafercontaining the drive and pick-up system undervacuum. This isolates the resonator from thepressure media, thereby ensuring that the accuracy ismaintained regardless of the pressure media density.

This transducer series can be used in manyapplication areas with the RPT 100 configured forOEM use and the RPT 200 for direct mounting inaggressive environments. The RPT 200 is availablewith either a frequency output for conversion topressure within the customer system or as a fullycorrected digital output of pressure via an RS 485interface.

The mechanical format of the RPT 200 makes it idealfor high accuracy industrial applications ranging fromlevel measurement to gas volume correction andwhere stability is of paramount importance.

The digital output RPT 301 is ideally suited forweather stations monitoring atmospheric trends, engine test cells and as a highly stable pressurereference transfer standard.
