And You are the One, who (always) And You are the One, who (always)

guides in the right direction.guides in the right direction.

I am convinced that You are the most I am convinced that You are the most

‘‘MercifulMerciful’’

——in amnesty and forgiveness; in amnesty and forgiveness;

but but ‘‘StringentStringent’’——

in punishing and disciplining the in punishing and disciplining the

miscreant, miscreant,

and (You) hold the Absolute and (You) hold the Absolute

SovereigntySovereignty

in the realm of power and authority.in the realm of power and authority.

OO’’ AllahAllah, You have enjoined me to supplicate , You have enjoined me to supplicate

and plead to You; and plead to You;

in that case, (I implore You to) hear my petition in that case, (I implore You to) hear my petition

and respond (to it); and respond (to it);

OO’’ Merciful, abate my tendency to indulge in Merciful, abate my tendency to indulge in

sins. sins.

O, my O, my AllahAllah, innumerable are the miseries, innumerable are the miseries

You have alleviated me from, You have alleviated me from,

and the grieves You have driven away from me; and the grieves You have driven away from me;

(similarly) how numerous (were) my(similarly) how numerous (were) my

miseries that You have lightened me of; miseries that You have lightened me of;

and You have (always) showered blessingsand You have (always) showered blessings

(on me) (on me)

and aborted the onslaught of misfortuneand aborted the onslaught of misfortune

around me.around me.

كعائي دي فل تنأذ ماللهكعائي دي فل تنأذ مالله كألتسمو كألتسمو فاسمع يا سميع مدحتي فاسمع يا سميع مدحتي وأجب يا رحيم دعوتي وأجب يا رحيم دعوتي وأقل يا غفور عثرتي وأقل يا غفور عثرتي

فكم يا إهلي من كربة قد فرجتها فكم يا إهلي من كربة قد فرجتها وهموم قد كشفتها وهموم قد كشفتها وعثرة قد أقلتها وعثرة قد أقلتها

ورحمة قد نشرتها ورحمة قد نشرتها وحلقة بالء قد فككتها؟ وحلقة بالء قد فككتها؟


All Praise be to All Praise be to AllahAllah

who has not taken for Himself a wife or who has not taken for Himself a wife or

(parented) a son; (parented) a son;

(who) has no contender to His Reign; (who) has no contender to His Reign;

(and) nor does He have a friend to depend (and) nor does He have a friend to depend

on. on.

So, Magnify Him with all Greatness.So, Magnify Him with all Greatness.

Who has no opponent to His rule; Who has no opponent to His rule;

nor a challenger to His commands. nor a challenger to His commands.


Who has no advisor to claim a jobWho has no advisor to claim a job--sharing sharing

role in creation (of the world); nor is there role in creation (of the world); nor is there

anyone parallel to Him in His Greatness.anyone parallel to Him in His Greatness.

الحمد لله بجميع محامده كلها الحمد لله بجميع محامده كلها على جميع نعمه كلها على جميع نعمه كلها

whose commandments encompass the whose commandments encompass the

His grandeur is reflected through (His) His grandeur is reflected through (His)

love and kindness. love and kindness.

His magnanimity is exceptional and His magnanimity is exceptional and

boundlessboundless——

flowing from His infinite resources; flowing from His infinite resources;

and the enhancement of these (everand the enhancement of these (ever--

flowing) blessings can not be (possible) flowing) blessings can not be (possible)

without His generosity and kindness. without His generosity and kindness.

Certainly, He is Mighty and Generous.Certainly, He is Mighty and Generous.

هدجم مر بالكرالظاههدجم مر بالكرالظاههدي ودبالج طالباسهدي ودبالج طالباس

هنزائخ قصني ال تالذهنزائخ قصني ال تالذوال تزيده كثرة العطاءوال تزيده كثرة العطاء

إال جودا وكرماإال جودا وكرماهإنهإن وه وهزيزالعزيزالع ابهالو ابهالو


O, O, AllahAllah, I ask You for a little which You , I ask You for a little which You

have in plenty; although my needs are have in plenty; although my needs are

manymany——

You are the One I can bank on; (because) You are the One I can bank on; (because)

You are needless of these material things; You are needless of these material things;

but they mean a lot to mebut they mean a lot to me——

(and I know) it is easy for You to (fulfill (and I know) it is easy for You to (fulfill

my needs). my needs).

اللهم إني أسألك قليال من كثري اللهم إني أسألك قليال من كثري ةيمظع هبي إلي ةحاج عم ةيمظع هبي إلي ةحاج عم

ريي كثدنع وهو ميقد هنع ناكغو ريي كثدنع وهو ميقد هنع ناكغووهووهوكليعكليلعهلسهسسرييسريي


O, O, AllahAllah, certainly , certainly

(I am aware of the fact that) (I am aware of the fact that)

You forgive my sins, condone my faults,You forgive my sins, condone my faults,

take a lenient view of my eviltake a lenient view of my evil--doings doings

committed by design or inadvertentlycommitted by design or inadvertently——

اللهم إن عفوك عن ذنبي اللهم إن عفوك عن ذنبي وتجاوزك عن خطيئتي وتجاوزك عن خطيئتي وصفحك عن ظلمي، وصفحك عن ظلمي،

وسترك على قبيح عملي وسترك على قبيح عملي وحلمك عن كثري جرمي وحلمك عن كثري جرمي

عند ما كان من خطإي وعمدي عند ما كان من خطإي وعمدي


(yet) I am tempted to ask You (yet) I am tempted to ask You

for what I do not deserve, for what I do not deserve,

i.e. sustenance which You have bestowed i.e. sustenance which You have bestowed

upon me from Your Generosity; upon me from Your Generosity;

and provided to me from Your power, and provided to me from Your power,

and made it known to me by Your and made it known to me by Your

answers. answers.

So, I persist in calling out; having faith in So, I persist in calling out; having faith in

You, You,

and I ask from You, and I ask from You,

speaking to You in a familiar way, speaking to You in a familiar way,

least afraid of (You) least afraid of (You)

nor being shynor being shy——

كتمحر نني مقتزي رالذ كتمحر نني مقتزي رالذ كترقد نني متيأرو كترقد نني متيأرو كتإجاب نني مفترعو كتإجاب نني مفترعوفصرت أدعوك آمنا فصرت أدعوك آمنا وأسألك مستأنسا وأسألك مستأنسا

وجالوجالوال وال خائفاخائفاالال


Rather (I am) assured of Your love and Rather (I am) assured of Your love and

kindness whenever I look towards You .kindness whenever I look towards You .

Thus, in case there was a delay (in Your Thus, in case there was a delay (in Your

reply) for which I blamed You due to my reply) for which I blamed You due to my

ignorance, ignorance,

(I should be aware that) such a delay could (I should be aware that) such a delay could

be a blessing in disguise, be a blessing in disguise,

because (only) You know the because (only) You know the

consequences of (all) matters.consequences of (all) matters.

I have not seen such a magnanimous I have not seen such a magnanimous

master; master;

who is more accommodating (even) to who is more accommodating (even) to

dissatisfied servants, as You are to me.dissatisfied servants, as You are to me.

OO’’ my Lord, You call me towards You and my Lord, You call me towards You and

I turn down the offer;I turn down the offer;

You be affectionate to me (whereas), You be affectionate to me (whereas),

I pay no heed towards You, I pay no heed towards You,

You extend Your love to me You extend Your love to me

but I do not reciprocate, but I do not reciprocate,

as if I consider myself superior. as if I consider myself superior.

Despite all that You do not suspend Despite all that You do not suspend

bestowing blessings and bestowing blessings and favoursfavours on meon me——

emanating from Your mercy and emanating from Your mercy and

generosity; generosity;

so, (continue to) merciful towards Your so, (continue to) merciful towards Your

ignorant servant ignorant servant

and remain kind to me. and remain kind to me.

Certainly, You are generous and kind. Certainly, You are generous and kind.

Praise be to Praise be to Allah,Allah, the absolute Sovereign; the absolute Sovereign;

Who regulates the movements of skies and Who regulates the movements of skies and

(Who) controls the winds, (Who) controls the winds,

causes the break of dawn, causes the break of dawn,

and execute authorityand execute authority——

the Lord of the universe. the Lord of the universe.

Praise be to Praise be to AllahAllah,,

for the lasting relief He gives despite His for the lasting relief He gives despite His

anger,anger,

and power to do anything He wants to do.and power to do anything He wants to do.

Praise be to Praise be to AllahAllah, the Creator of all , the Creator of all

creation, creation,

the provider of plentiful sustenance, the provider of plentiful sustenance,

the separator of dawn (from night), the separator of dawn (from night),

possessor of Glory and Powerpossessor of Glory and Power

and Bounties and Blessings;and Bounties and Blessings;

Who is far away invisible Who is far away invisible

and (yet) nearestand (yet) nearest——so near that He is fully so near that He is fully

aware of the whispered secrets; aware of the whispered secrets;

the Blessed and Exalted.the Blessed and Exalted.

فالق اإلصباحفالق اإلصباحباسط الرزقباسط الرزقذي الجالل واإلكرام ذي الجالل واإلكرام والفضل واإلنعام والفضل واإلنعام وقرب فشهد وقرب فشهد الذي بعد فال يرى الذي بعد فال يرى

وتعاىلوتعاىلتبارك تبارك النجوىالنجوى


Praise be to Praise be to Allah,Allah,

Who has no one parallel to challenge Him; Who has no one parallel to challenge Him;

nor there is anyone worthnor there is anyone worth--comparing with comparing with

Him; Him;

nor a helper to assist Him (in His work). nor a helper to assist Him (in His work).

He tames the powerful by His force;He tames the powerful by His force;

and (all those who consider themselves) and (all those who consider themselves)

terrible are inferior before His Greatness; terrible are inferior before His Greatness;

so, He through His powers, accomplishes so, He through His powers, accomplishes

whatever He wants.whatever He wants.

الحمد لله الذيالحمد لله الذي لهعادي نازعم له سلي لهعادي نازعم له سلي لهشاكي بيهال شو لهشاكي بيهال شو هدعاضي ال ظهريو هدعاضي ال ظهريوقهر بعزته األعزاء قهر بعزته األعزاء

وتواضع لعظمته العظماء وتواضع لعظمته العظماء يشاء يشاء مامابقدرتهبقدرتهفبلغ فبلغ

Who (always) replies whenever I call Him; Who (always) replies whenever I call Him;

covers up my faults despite I defy His covers up my faults despite I defy His

commands; commands;

(He) gives me the most of His bounties (He) gives me the most of His bounties

and still I ask for more. and still I ask for more.

A large number of A large number of favoursfavours He approved He approved

(for me) (for me)

and many dangers He has saved me from; and many dangers He has saved me from;

and there are numerous boons He has and there are numerous boons He has

made available to me. Therefore, I sing His made available to me. Therefore, I sing His

Praises and recite His Exaltation.Praises and recite His Exaltation.

لهل دمالح لهل دمالحيهأناد نيني حجيبي يالذيهأناد نيني حجيبي يالذ

يهصا أعأنو ةروكل ع ليع رتسيو يهصا أعأنو ةروكل ع ليع رتسيو فال أجازيه لية عمعالن ظمعيو فال أجازيه لية عمعالن ظمعيو

فكم من موهبة هنيئة قد أعطاني فكم من موهبة هنيئة قد أعطاني وعظيمة مخوفة قد كفاني وعظيمة مخوفة قد كفاني وبهجة مونقة قد أراني؟ وبهجة مونقة قد أراني؟

..وأذكره مسبحاوأذكره مسبحافأثني عليه حامدا فأثني عليه حامدا



none can transpire what He covers up;none can transpire what He covers up;

no one can shut the doors that He has kept no one can shut the doors that He has kept

opened; opened;

no one who has asked Him (for help), is no one who has asked Him (for help), is

disappointed by Him; and no one who has disappointed by Him; and no one who has

looked attentively towards Him for long, is looked attentively towards Him for long, is

misguided in his hopes.misguided in his hopes.

Who gives protection to the frightened;Who gives protection to the frightened;

(He) comes to the help of the upright; (He) comes to the help of the upright;

(He) backs the cause of the (one who is) (He) backs the cause of the (one who is)

weak and enslaved; (He) destroys the weak and enslaved; (He) destroys the

atrocious; atrocious;

ruins the (oppressive) rulers ruins the (oppressive) rulers

and replaces them by the and replaces them by the ‘‘awaited awaited

saviors'saviors'’’..

Who breaks everything that belongs to the Who breaks everything that belongs to the

oppressors; eliminates the tyrants; oppressors; eliminates the tyrants;

keeps a watch on the fugitive; keeps a watch on the fugitive;

provides assistance to those who call Him provides assistance to those who call Him

for help; for help;

fulfills the needs of those who are needy fulfills the needs of those who are needy

and ask for (support); and ask for (support);

(and) (and) favoursfavours the faithful.the faithful.

fear (even) the heavens fear (even) the heavens

and oceans on which whatever swims or and oceans on which whatever swims or

floats, floats,

(or) flow together in excitement and (or) flow together in excitement and

turmoil.turmoil.

ترعد السماء وسكانها ترعد السماء وسكانها وترجف األرض وعمارها وترجف األرض وعمارها

البحار وجمتوالبحار وجمتونمونموحبسيحبسيييفها فراتها غمراتغم



Who has guided us to this. Who has guided us to this.

We would not have been on the right path We would not have been on the right path

had had AllahAllah not guided us.not guided us.

لهل دمالح لهل دمالحالذي هدانا لهذاالذي هدانا لهذا

اللهاللههداناهداناأن أن لواللواللنهتديلنهتديكنا كنا وماوما



Who creates (everything) but is not created Who creates (everything) but is not created

by (anyone); by (anyone);

provides sustenance but needs no provides sustenance but needs no

provisions (for Himself); provisions (for Himself);

provides food to everyone but needs no provides food to everyone but needs no

food for Himself; makes the living dead food for Himself; makes the living dead

and regenerates the dead; and regenerates the dead;

and He is everlasting and there is no death and He is everlasting and there is no death

to Him; to Him;

and) He holds in His hands every good and) He holds in His hands every good

mercies, affections mercies, affections

that You have made availablethat You have made available

to none other (but Mohammed); to none other (but Mohammed);

and those and those honouredhonoured gifts gifts

that You have not bestowed upon other that You have not bestowed upon other

creatures.creatures.

Your decisive argument over mankind; Your decisive argument over mankind;

و فى عذابك و هوانك فال تبتلنا و فى عذابك و هوانك فال تبتلنا و من الزقوم و الضريع فال تطعمنا و من الزقوم و الضريع فال تطعمنا
