The final map shows forty Dunkin Donuts in thetowns of West Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, Brockton,Hanson, Halifax, Raynham, Easton, South Easton,Whitman, and Middleborough. A half mile buffer wasused to locate surrounding Dunkin Donuts from the pointof 24 Park Ave, Bridgewater. Overlapping buffers show ahigh concentration of the Dunkin Donuts located within ahalf mile from each other. QR codes were made to givewalking and driving directions to the Dunkin Donutswithin a 7 mile radius. The closest Dunkin Donuts to theConant Science and Math center was 407 feet, locatedin the Rondileau Campus Center. The farthest DunkinDonuts within the radius was located approximately 9.1miles away in Raynham.

AbstractOur goal was to locate and show all of the Dunkin
Donuts within a seven mile radius from the ConantScience & Math Center at Bridgewater State University. We were then interested in finding the area with thehighest concentration of Dunkin Donuts. By putting abuffer zone with a half mile radius on each individualDunkin Donuts we can see where the buffer zonesoverlap. We can then find the area where the mostbuffer zones overlap. This location would be the areawith the most Dunkin Donuts within a half mile distance. We were also interested in finding the closest tenDunkin Donuts by walking or driving distance to theConant Science & Math Center. By utilizing QR codesor Quick Response codes we are able give fast and
accurate directions to anyone in possession of asmartphone.
In the beginning when trying to decide on a topic
we realized that we all enjoy a nice cup of coffee. Afterlooking around the local area we realized that Dunkin
Donuts was the most popular coffee shop. Using
Google Maps and Google Earth as references we were
able to find all the locations of Dunkin Donuts in a 7 mile
radius from the Conant Science and Math Center
located at 24 Park Ave, Bridgewater MA, 02325. Using
Google Maps we were able to get turn-by-turn drivingdirections for the 10 closest Dunkin Donuts to campus.
With the use of Quick Response codes (QR codes) we
were able to generate an image made of black and
white pixels. This image can be scanned with a free
app available for download on any smartphone device.
Once you scan the image it automatically gives you
turn-by -turn directions through Google Maps to the
Dunkin Donuts location which the code was created for.
The final map shows the highest concentration of
Dunkin Donuts within the seven mile radius. To find this,
we created a half mile buffer for each Dunkin andlooked for areas with multiple overlapping buffers.

We found the location of all the Dunkin Donuts
within a 7 mile radius of the Conant Mathematics and
Science Building using Google Earth. We put the
addresses into Google Maps to find driving distances
and directions to each location via 24 Park Avenue,
Bridgewater, MA 02325. We used the Google Map links
to create QR Codes for the 10 closest Dunkin Donuts
locations. The next step was to import Google Earth
placemarks of each Dunkin Donuts, into ArcMap. The
Massachusetts basemap came from ArcGIS Online,
and was provided by MassGIS. Half mile buffers were
created around each Dunkin Donuts location. For a
visual we put 1, 3, 5, and 7 mile buffers around the
Conant Building.

QR CodesOur group performed spatial analysis on data collected using
Google Earth. We found 40 Dunkin Donuts within 7 miles of the Conant
Science building at Bridgewater State University. The group also found
that by using ArcGIS we could determine where the largest overlap of
these coffee shops were located. Our results concluded that the highest
concentration was in Brockton and that there are 4 shops that are within
reasonable walking distance of the BSU campus. The map making
process was time consuming, but rewarding.
