A Walking Guide Of Fushiki High School.

The Tall camphor tree

I see growing on a rock

Is spreading its roots

So far and wide, and it seems

Godlike, passing many years.

Mt. Futagami

Round which the River Imizu

Flows encircling it,

Is like a pretty casket,

…….

As has been from old days

Solemn and sublime

To those who look up to it

So that they may long for it.

Well, now let us go,

Ranging horses together,

To see the waves clear

Surging on the winding beach

Of Rocky Shibutani.

The spring garden,

The lustrous crimson:

Girl who appears standing

on the path

Beneath the gleam

of peach blossoms

From the tops of trees

On the sloping mountain yon

Let us try to take

Some reeds and make a crown

Said to give us

thousands of years.

Lying in my bed

At dawn I hear boatmen sing,

Rowing their own boat,

On the Imizu River.

Their song coming from

afar.

Just above the well

Of the temple where maidens

Many in number

Come and go for the water

There bloom

the dogtooth flowers.

Six gorgeous floats for Fushiki Hikiyama

Festival, which started during the Edo

period, are stored in this shed. This festival

is famous for its courageous participants.

The festival is well-known for „Katcha‟, in

which 8 ton floats are bumped against each

other. This festival is also called

„Kenkayama‟ (“Kenka” means fight and

“yama” means floats.

This is the house of the Akimoto clan, who engaged in

trade between Fushiki, Hokkaido and Osaka from the

end of the 18th century. The tower will rarely monitor

the ocean now, but you can find information about the

history Fushiki and water transportation here.

This is Jyodosinsyu sect temple which was built

about 420 years ago in the 17th century. It has the

eighth biggest temple main hall in Japan. Its

fortress represents the style that was prevalent in

Medieval times. It also has treasure like “The 7

mysteries of Shokoji Temple”. In 2005, the great

renovation which lasted 7 years was completed.

This museum was built to commemorate

Otomono Yakamoti who stayed in Fushiki as

provincial officer and wrote a lot of

“Tanka (poems) “ for “Man‟yo Shu (poem

Book) “ . This museum was set up in 1990 and

there are few such museums in Japan.
