^Gaelic music/songs/genre Competitors should ensure that their own choice piece of music is of Scottish Gaelic origin. This is defined as the melody of a Scottish Gaelic song, or a dance tune or slow air from the Scottish Gaelic tradition, and in the Scottish Gaelic idiom.
Eligibility and Rules•Competitorsareaskedtoconsiderthefollowingwhenchoosingownchoicepiecesof GaelicMusicandSong.Gaelic Music and Song:Gaelicmusicandsongthatoriginates,ororiginatedintraditionalGaelicpopularculture,orthatiswritteninsuchastyle:Gaelicmusicandsongthatistypicallyof unknownauthorshipandisoften,althoughnotexclusivelytransmittedorallyfromgenerationtogeneration.
•Thisinterpretationisintendedasgeneralguidanceonlyandnotasadefinitivedescriptionof Gaelicmusicandsong.ItisnotacceptabletosubmitapiecefromanothergenreortraditionbytranslatingthetitletoGaelic.
•Competitorsareremindedthatownchoicemusicandsongs(withtranslation)mustbesubmittedtotheModOfficeby30thJune.Seewebsitefor“RulesfortheRoyalnationalMod”.
