Nanotäyteineilla saavutetut ominaisuusparannukset• Lämmönkestävyys• Mekaaniset ominaisuudet• Lisääntynyt jäykkyys ja kovuus• Kulumiskestävyys• Sähkönjohtavuus• Palonkestävyys• Kemiallinen kestävyys• Barrier-ominaisuudet
7Kumi-instituutin syysseminaari 26.5.2016
Ominaisuusparannuksiin vaikuttavat käytetty nanotäyteaine ja elastomeeri.Yhden ominaisuuden parantuessa, toinen ominaisuus voi heiketä.
Hiilinanoputket• Sylinterimäisiä fullereeneja• Erittäin lujia• Hyvin jäykkä päistä vedettäessä
– Kimmokerroin 1000 GPa• Taivuteltaessa pehmeä kuin polymeeri• Sähköä johtava
• Yksiseinämäiset (SWNT)• Moniseinämäiset (MWNT)

Nanodiamonds• Promising
– stable diamond core– highly reactive outer shell– high thermal conductivity– high electrical resistivity– biocompatibility– availability at reasonable
prices• NDs tend to aggregate due
to the presence of a number of functional surface groups– Chemical modification
• Stable aqueous dispersions

Partial replacement of carbon black by HNTs in NR/BR compound• Easier processing• Lower storage, loss modulus and tan
delta -> tyre applications• No significant changes in mechanical
properties• TESPT-silane - no effect

Poikelispää M., et al. Journal of Elastomers and Plastics (2014) 0095244314538436
• The polarity of the HNT surface can be reduced• The functional groups on the surface, mainly hydroxyl
groups, can be shielded• The chemical composition of the surface can be
changed to hydrocarbons • Functional groups can be created in the surface

Plasma treatment
Partial replacement of CB by plasma-treated HNTs in NR/BR• The polarity of the HNTs
decreased• Improved dispersion• Suppresses reversion• Improved mechanical properties
(polymer-filler interaction)• Higher tan delta

Summary• Nanofillers have come (a long time ago) to
age• There is a lot of variety in nanofillers• A development from universal magic stuff to a
tool for material developer, mainly for specific properties i.e. functionality
• TUT has been working in the area for over 10 years and work still continues: Graphene and GO filled polymers for hydrogen storage and nanofilled energy harvesting elastomers
