Dear
Christian
Friends:
Did you know
that
today
one
billion souls have
yet
to hear
that
Chris
died for their sins
65^
o f the people
of
the world have never
heard
what
happened
at Cal
vary. Souls are dying
at the
rate o f 100,000
a
day. The heathen world is increasing
at
th
rate
of 400 million each generation. 2,000 years after Christ there are more peopl e wh
have
never heard the name of Jesus than there were
in
the hour when He was born. In Kore
there
are
approximaetly 2? million people.
Of
these onl y one million make any clain whatso
ever to being Christian.
I t is this wonderful people who
now
call fo r our return. We have engaged passage o n
freighter, the "Hong Kong Bear"
of the
Pacific
Far East Lines,
leaving San Francisco
for Pu
san,
Korea
about
March
15' We
plan to leave
Indianapolis
about
the last
week i n February.
Through
the
contributions
of
you Christian fol ks we have
been enabled to purchase
number
o f
items
of needed equipment.
We
have two typewriters,
an
electronic stencil
make
a
good paper
cutter, a
folding machine, an electric powered dupl icator, and several othe
small items to
use
i n publishing Bible schoo l materials, student Bible club study material
Bible correspondence courses and other literature: we have two tape recorders, one a por
able
battery
powered one
to use in
various ways
in
areas where there is
no electric power i
Korea, which can
be
used both for the work in
Korea
and to send taped reports to you folk
i n
the
States: we have pictures,
flannelgraphs,
study materials o f a l l kinds to use i n
th
work with children and young people in Korea, helping them to better und erstand the love o
Christ
for them: we are i n
the process
of obtaining two
film-strip projectors,
one
batter
powered to
use
i n remote
areas,
and
a
number o f film-strips, the number depending o n
wh
funds
we have
a v a i l a b l e
for
purchasing
them,
(we
had
h o p e d
to
h a v e
200
but
will not
be
a b
to get all we want and need).
We
were fortunate
in
most
of
these purchases but it stil
represents
an
investment of several thousand dollars.
But
there are still other needs.
We
need approximately addition to the reg
iilar
gifts before we can return. This includes $2,500 fo r
a
house deposit for our livin
in
Pusan;
$1,500 for
our p assage and shipping and $1,000
for
the various
things
that
alway
come
u p
in the last moments here and in the
first
few d a ys
of our arrival. WE CANNOT
LEA
iintil we
have these amounts.
We
must have
a place
to live
in
when
we
arrive and
$2,300
i
what
o ur
Mr. Lee says it will
take
to
rent one,
as we have explained
before
we
pay a
l arg
deposit,
"key-money", then no rental
fee monthly and
receive our
deposi t back when
we
clos
our rental, the owner loaning that
money out and
living on the interest
of
5 to I O 5 pe
month ).
Our passage and
shipping
must
be paid
in
advance. And there
are
always
e ^ q s e n s
the last few d ays here and the first
few days in
Korea that
had
not
been figured o n.

We must have
some
assurance of these amounts not later than February 21 ■ v r ti ich is
about
the
last date w e can cancel our
passage.
W e can only
depend
upon the Christians
and churches who
have
shown
concern
for
the
lost in
Korea
previously to supply these
amounts.
It
wll take
some
large gifts
to
make up this total.
There
are
churches
which
now support the w o r k in Korea who could
make
up
a
special
offering
of 500 or more
in
the next few weeks. Many of yo u could raise 100
and
there are few who could not make a
little
extra
sacrifice so
that
the lost in Korea m a y
hear
the saving Gospel
of
Jesus
Christ.
W e
are
giving
all
we
ca n
give,
our lives our
homes
here,
a nd
every
dollar
we
have. Won t
X O U make a special
effort
N O W
to
help
with
this
great
undertaking?
The
children of
our
Bible School, all 350 of
them, are
anxious for
our
return. Th e
college
a nd
high
school students, 125
of' them, in our student
Bible
clubs,
are
anxious
for our return. Th e
correspondence
students of the Bible, hundreds of them, are anxious
for our return. Th e Christians who
h a v e
been baptized
a s
a result of your cooperation
with us in
the
work of
the
Gospel ,
60
of t hem, are anxious
for
our return. Countless
hundreds
whom we wll be able to
reach with
the help of our new plans
and equipment,
are
awaiting our return. WILL Y O U H E L P US GET THEIlEl

One of
the
best items of news
is that three
of
our four Korean

a
strong possibility
that
by the time you receive this
the fourth one wll be taken care of.
This
certainly
relieves our

although
we
still
need additional pledged
funds.
In
addition
to buying equipment, paying for
passage
etc.
it has
been necessary to
send from
300
to 400
per m o n t h
to Korea to keep
the work going.
