BrochureDescription:Two sided folded brochure.

Date: 12/7/14

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Section 01Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe InDesign Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:Create a brochure using InDesignDevelop knowledge of

Process: I started this project with a lot of research on different ways to fold paper. Once I found a fold that I liked and felt like could add an interesting aspect to the menu I took a while to figure out exactly how the fold worked. I then researched the restaurant I wanted to make a menu for. Once I had all the information that I needed I went into Illustrator and created the coffee cup, pie, and bird images. I then went into InDesign and made guides so I would know where all the folds were and typed up a menu and placed the images so that when everything was folded it would all line up perfectly.

LogosDescription:Create three different logos for a company or individual.

Date: 11/2/14

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Section 01Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:Learn the basic tools of Illustrtor while creating three unique logos.

Process: I started off searching through logos for inspiration then came up with the idea for ‘dandelion boutique” and just decided to stick with it. I then sketched out a dandelion and a D and scanned those in then I used image trace to convert it to a vector graphic. I ended up not using the D but finding a font that I kind of liked but not really and traced the general shape of it. I the created a dandelion petal and used the rotate, resizing, and copy tools to make it into a full dandelion. For the second one I sketched a lions face and scanned it in then drew a dandelion petal using the pen tool and the rotate copy and resizing tools to make the dandelion mane. The third I just took the dandelion I had sketched previously, picked a few petals, cleaned them up and used to copy and resize tools to make the top of a dandelion.

Process: I started this project by finding an image of a grand piano, I then placed that image in Illustrator and traced it useing the pen tool. I brought that image into InDesign and using different coloring and opacity tools I got it to te shade of gray that I wanted. I then took the information given to me to use on the card and put it on the card using left aliegnment. I decided to keep the other side of the card really simple and just put the name and title center aliegned on that side.

Objectives:Scan and use a high quality image.Create a full bleed design.Use Word to place images and use text boxes to create a good layout

Process: I began by scanning an Arbys bag to use as the backround texture of my ad. I then went into word and used a bracket turned on its side to create the chilli pot. Then useing one of the lines Word offered as an option I created the lid. I then found a font that I felt like one would find at such an event and used it for the headings and I also took the C and turned it on its side to create the handle of the pot. I then used the shape tool to create the lines and text boxed to get my text where I wanted it.

FlierDescription:Black and white flier to promote a conference to be held for graduating seniors.

Date: 10/5/14

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Section 01Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe InDesignAdobe Photoshop

Objectives:vUse InDesign to create a flier that follows all the basic deisgn principles.Use appropriate typography.Learn how to link images useing InDesign.

Process: After I knew what I wanted my basic layout to be. I took the image i as given into photoshop and did alot of maskeing and cloneing to split the image and use it that way i wanted to . I then took the two new images and placed them in InDesign. I then took a simple white rectanger and angeled it across the images to give the white space between the images. I choose this angel because it contrasts with the dirrection of the booksheleves in the images. Then using contrasting fonts I placed the text.

WebpageDescription:Create a webpage showcasing a logo.

Date: 11/23/14

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Section 01Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools: TextWrangler

Objectives:Using HTML and CSS create a webpage in code showcaing a logo.

Process: This was probably the hardest project of the semester for me. I ended up just taking a lot of the code from the activity and replacing it with what I wanted. I googled how to do a few things like how ot place an image behind and how to make the box transparent. I then got help from a tutor and he showed me how to make a line that went behind the one line of text and how to change the color and font for just one word in a paragraph.

Description:Take an image, pick out the color scheme and make an 8.5 x 11 design including the photo, some text and the colors from your color scheme.

Date: 10/18/14

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Section 01Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:Learn basic photography skills.Learnn basic photoshop tools.

Process: I took the photo using a Canon PowerShot SX40 HS. I focused on the Shake Out sign so the foreground would be blurry. I then brought the image into Photoshop and brought out the colors by using the selective color tool. I changed the leaves from yellow to green to get the color scheme I wanted. I also brought down the yellow so the building wouldn’t be quiet so yellow. I also blurred out the apartment complex in the background using the the Gaussian Blur, so it more attention would be brought to the sign. The sky I had was whited out and I wanted it to have more blue so I replaced it with the sky from a photo I took for Tuesdays assignment. I then brought the image into Illustration and created the circles for the color swatches using the Ellipse tool and created the margins using the Rectangle tool and then the line tool for the lines, I changed the weights of each line to bring your eye into the image. I used the eyedropper tool to make sure I got the actual colors from the image. The border is from the roof of the building, the lime from one of the leaves the red from the sign and the teal from the sky.

MontageDescription:Find a spiritual message and convey it using multiple images and text overlaid together.

Date: 10/26/14

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Section 01Cory Kerr

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:Learn to manage Photoshop Layers.Learn to blend images and type together smoothly

Process: For this project I took a missionary nametag and two pictures of missionaries walking in either direction. I placed the nametag in the back and the two images on top then used the masking tools to make the images show through where I wanted them too. I had hoped ot be able to find the fonts that are used on the nametag and then use that in the text on the bottom but I wasn’t able to so I tried to find something semi similar and used that.
