What is a “Project”
project
temporary
unique progressive elaboration
Creates unique deliverables “products, services or results” and/or operates in unique
environment.
Has a beginning and definite end. It is just an opposite to “operations”.
Developing in steps, controlling and continuing by increments. Draft at the beginning and more explicit and detailed when the project team develops deeper understanding of the objectives and deliverables.
A project is a temporary effort, undertaken to create unique products, services or results.
Based on PMI (Project Management Institute) Methodology
Why Project Management? How would you define: Successful projects
Failed projects
Challenged projects nobody needs them or they don’t provide business value as expected
What studies and surveys tell us about failed projects? 40% of projects met schedule, budget and quality goals!
70% of organizations have suffered at least one project failure in the prior 12 months!
50% of projects failed to achieve what they set out to achieve!
35% of projects were underestimated of complexity.
35% of organizations abandoned a major project in the last 3 years.
37% of business process change projects fail to deliver benefits.
49% of IT projects are either poorly planned, poorly performed or both.
Biggest barriers to success are: People factors!

Will users benefit from knowing what resources are available and which are booked?
Could team members use desktop applications to share report progress with each other and receive updates from their project manager?
What if teams could centrally manage and track project documents?
Could project managers, team members and executives interact with role-specific project data just by using their browsers?
Define your needs (2) SIMPLE AND INTUITIVE USER EXPERIENCE

Would being able to analyze what-if scenarios prior to approval aid users in making better project choices?
SCALABLE AND CONNECTED PLATFORM
Can a management solution continue to meet the needs of an organization as it evolves?
Can a solution platform be configured to meet an organization’s specific needs?

Is there a difficult learning curve for Solution Administrators?
Can it be reduced by consolidating settings?
