Passage A: Advantage
Robots are one of the most creative products of technology. They have many advantages over human beings. First, robots can take the place of people in doing some dangerous and harmful work. For instance, they can rescue people from risky fire places or replace men to work in some areas which have high amount of radioactive substance. Second is that they may complete work effectively and quickly. According to some researchers, at the same work, robots do twice as fast as people.
Passage B: Disadvantage
Robots are one of the most creative products of technology. However, we also need to look at the disadvantages of robots.First, concepts such as care, understanding, and togetherness cannot be understood by machines. Imagine robots working in hospitals. Do you picture them showing the care and concern that humans would? They will always lack the human touch. Second, they are able to do only what they are programmed to do. What robots do is follow the instruction and pre-set programming by human beings.
Passage C: Example -taxi driver-
I think that taxi drivers will disappear because of robot taxis. First,
robots do not get tired no matter how long they work. Humans have to
take a break after working some time, while robots can work 24 hours.
For taxi companies, it would cost less to introduce robot taxis than to hire
human drivers. Second, robots taxis do not need verbal communication.
With more and more foreign tourists in Japan, we need to speak several
languages to treat them. Robot taxis, however, could use several
languages like Siri from iPhone, or could have a screen for customers just
to touch their destinations. Therefore, I think that robots will take place
of taxi drivers.
