上環的荷李活道以古董聞名中外，是不少收藏家的天堂。但大家

又知不知道圖書館的「多媒體資訊系統」也一樣，讓不少喜歡懷舊

的朋友有意外收穫呢！

現時「多媒體資訊系統」提供二十多個不同主題的數碼館藏，包括

「照片」、「香港舊報紙」、「地圖特藏」、「香港地方」及「香港十

八區」等主題館藏，共十七萬項影音和多媒體資料，逾二百五十萬

頁數碼化的歷史資料和圖片。要搜尋香港的舊報紙和老照片無需

舟車勞頓，安坐家中也可獲取大量與香港相關的資訊！

As promising as Sheung Wan’s Hollywood Road to those fond of local history, the MMIS offers more than 20 digital collections, including Photos, Old Hong Kong Newspapers, Map Collection, Hong Kong Places and , providing 170,000 items of multimedia information and over 2.5 million pages of digitised images and text.

The Photo collection includes old photos of Hong Kong dating back to the mid-19th century, with themes on historic buildings, street scenes, social customs and traditions, festivals and people’s livelihood.

The Old Hong Kong Newspapers Collection is a selective collection of major old Hong Kong Newspapers published from early Hong Kong

Chinese Serial (1853-1856) and other English newspapers such as China Mail (1866-1961)、Hong Kong Daily Press (1864-1941), Hong Kong Sunday Herald (1929-1950), Hong Kong Telegraph (1881-1951) and Hong Kong Weekly Press (1895-1909).

Want to know more about Hong Kong’s boundary history,landscape changes, district development and street names? The Map Collection focuses on the early maps of Hong Kong since the 19th century, including

maps of the whole territory, district plans, street maps, geological maps, topographic maps, street naming plans and other thematic maps.

Hong Kong Places highlights the development and historical events of Hong Kong through digitised photos, maps, books and documents.

The presents a glimpse of the cultural and historical features of the 18 districts of Hong Kong through audio & video recordings, photos, newspaper clippings on arts and cultural activities, Ex-UC/RC’s archives and other image collection in MMIS.

大家更可透過「多媒體資訊系統」重溫多個有關本地歷史的專題講座，包

括「地區講古」、「香港掌故系列講座」、「跨代講故事：灣仔歷史回顧講

座」、「歷史與文化：香港史研究公開講座」、「講古星期天」及「鑪峰話舊

─ 香港地方掌故講座系列」等；以及瀏覽網上展覽，包括「香江回望」及

「元朗古與今」等，娛樂與資訊兼備，輕鬆認識各區的歷史文化風貌。

Recordings of previous subject talks on local history (conducted in Chinese) and online exhibitions on local districts and the old Hong Kong can also be found in the MMIS. The former include ‘Old Stories for Our Districts’, ‘History on Hong Kong Places’, ‘Talks on Our Social and Cultural Past’, and ‘Stories across Generations: Overview of Wan Chai History’, ‘Seminars on Hong Kong History’ and ‘Storytelling on Sundays’, while the latter include ‘A Reminiscence of Hong Kong’ and ‘Yuen Long: Now and Then’ , etc.

冊子，內容涵蓋區議會事務、

人、旅遊景點、名勝古蹟及規

劃發展等，大家搜尋地區資

料更方便和集中。

The Cultural and Historical Resources Corners (CHRCs), set up at a selected public library in each of the 18 districts, provide a one-stop reference repository of individual districts on areas such as culture, history and community development. Together with the ‘Local District

variety of community-based library activities, the CHRCs enable you to know your district better, whether it is for interest, research or study.

The CHRCs provide a collection of Hong Kong Districts Information which comprises a total of more than 8,400 items, including books, maps, audio-visual and multimedia materials and

business, information on local organisations, district activities, traditional culture, religion and festivals, history and celebrities, tourist attractions, sightseeing spots and historical monuments and planned development.

除「多媒體資訊系統」外，圖書館的「香港資料特藏」亦提供有關

香港今昔資料，是研究香港歷史的好幫手。特藏設於香港中央圖書

館及六間主要圖書館的參考圖書館內，當

中館藏最多的是香港中央圖書館的香港

資料部，擁有資料逾十萬項，內容包括歷

史檔案及政府刊物，以至自一八五三年往

後完整的政府憲報和一八七九年後香港

政府的行政報告及年報、各政府部門的報

告、地區議會的會議記錄及文件、數據資

料及專題刊物等。

此外，香港中央圖書館五樓的縮微資料閱

覽區藏有超過二萬六千五百項中英文報

章、期刊與及歷史文獻的縮微資料供研

究之用，包括香港開埠早期出版的報刊如

《循環日報》(1874-1886)、《華字日報》

(1859-1940)、《遐邇貫珍》(1853-1856)、

《中國之友與香港公報》(1842-1861)等；

及現存的報章如《星島日報》及《明報》

等，是搜集香港歷史資料的好地方。

Located in the Central Reference Library of the Hong Kong Central Library (HKCL) and the Reference Libraries of the six major libraries,

the Hong Kong Collection is a comprehensive collection of Hong Kong related materials, providing current and retrospective information on Hong Kong. The Collection at the HKCL is the largest with more than 100,000 items, containing historical documents and government publications, including a complete run of government gazettes since 1853, administrative and annual reports of the government since 1879, departmental reports, district board minutes and papers, statistical information and other publications.

In addition, the Microform Reading Area on the 5/F of the HKCL houses more than 26,500 items of newspapers, periodicals and historical documents of various subjects in microform format for research purpose. These include newspapers, periodicals and documents recording different historical events in Hong Kong from the colonial period to present times, as well as historical newspapers, such as Chinese Serial (1853-1856), periodicals and documents related to Chinese studies.

閱讀，是小朋友成長和學習的重要一環。對不少人來說，

兒童圖書館更是他們接觸閱讀和課外書的起點，是他們

成長中不可或缺的一頁。香港公共圖書館的兒童圖書館

陪伴無數港人成長，為港人帶來不少集體回憶。今期就讓

我們一起回顧公共圖書館兒童圖書館的變化。

六、七十年代 1960s and 1970s

上世紀六、七十年代，香港的經濟和社會福利發展仍在起步，小朋

友的娛樂設施較少。在一九六二年大會堂圖書館成立的時候，已

開設專為小朋友而設的兒童圖書館，並為小朋友選定合適程度的

館藏，提供課外閱讀場所和精神食糧。

When the City Hall Library was set up in 1962, it already had a children’s Library housing a collection suitable for children. At that time when entee rtainment or leisure facilities for children were relatively scarce, tthe library soon became a popular reading oasis among young readers.

八、九十年代 1980s and 1990s

八、九十年代，更多的公共圖書館相繼落成，有些建於市政設施

內，如市政大廈或鄰近地區大會堂，成為與普羅大眾生活息息相

關的公共設施，也成為「學生哥」課餘的好去處。兒童圖書館布置

用心，加設童趣的牆畫和兒童角(children corner)，而館藏更多元

化，由漫畫、繪本、雜誌、小說到古典名著及科普等中英文書籍，

應有盡有，更開始提供兒童多媒體資料。小朋友來到圖書館不單

可看書，更可參加不同類型有益身心的活動，如兒童故事時間、工

作坊、閱讀計劃、參觀圖書館，培養閱讀興趣。

The 1980s and 1990s saw the rise of the number of public libraries,in municipal buildings and community halls, which gradually becomean essential public facility in the communities and a popular hangout for students and youngsters. Children’s libraries of that time were specially designed and decorated into children corners with colourful and stimulating wall pictures in order to get kids excited about books and reading. Library collections for children became larger and more

classics and science books, to provide a balanced reading diet for children. Public libraries also started to provide multimedia information and organise extension programmes, such as storytelling sessions, workshops, reading programme and library visit, for young readers.

二千年代 In the 2000s

進入二千年代，香港的兒童圖書館與世界各地其他兒童圖書館一

樣，無論在外觀和服務上都不斷革新。現代兒童圖書館為主題式設

計，特色傢俬、布置不但色彩繽紛、牆上畫着充滿故事性的壁畫及

掛畫，有讓親子閒坐閱讀的小梯級座位，空間寬敞舒適，務求讓小

讀者在輕鬆愉快的環境

中，領會閱讀的樂趣。

香港公共圖書館於全港十

圖書館，每館均設有兒童

圖書館，當中有些更設有

兒童多媒體資料室及兒童

活動室。兒童多媒體資料室附有電腦設施，並提供教育性

的電腦程式及光碟，讓一眾小書迷在此學習、善用資訊科

技、掌握電腦技巧。

In recent years, HKPL’s children’s libraries have tried to upgrade their environment and service, just as other children’s libraries around the world. With visually appealing wall murals and paintings about stories, custom-made furniture and tier-seating for children, modern children’s libraries are full of colours and spacious for children to enjoy reading in a comfortable and pleasant environment.

Nowadays, all the static libraries of the HKPL are equipped with children’s libraries. With the development of information technology,

the HKPL also set up multimedia workstations in children’s libraries. Each workstation is installed with CD-ROMs for learning purpose. Young readers may learn here, make good use of information technology and master their computer skills.

東涌圖書館便以「動物世界」為兒童圖書館的主題。小朋友在閱讀之餘，也可以認識地區的特色呢！The children’s library in the Tung Chung library uses the Animal World as the theme in design. Children can learn about the district when enjoying reading at the same time.

粉嶺公共圖書館兒童圖書館內的彩虹牆是該館的特色標誌。The rainbow wall is a landmark of the children’s library in the Fanling Public Library.

由香港公共圖書館推出的電子服務項目「指尖上的圖書館」

（包括電子資源服務和流動應用程式），榮獲「2015香港資訊及通

訊科技獎」－最佳生活時尚（學習‧生活）金獎。

獎項由政府資訊科技總監辦公室策動，並由十個香港業界組織及

專業團體主辦，獎項甄選準則包括資訊及通訊科技的創新和創意、

功能、市場潛力和表現、裨益和影響，以及品質。

「指尖上的圖書館」提供的電子服務包括「我的圖書館」和「多媒體

資訊」兩個流動應用程式，以及圖書館網站上的「電子資源專頁」，

讓市民可隨時隨地享用圖書館服務及數碼館藏，以滿足市民對知識、

資訊、自學進修及善用餘暇的需求，並體現「無牆圖書館」的概念。

‘Library at Your Fingertips’, a key project of the Hong Kong Public Libraries (HKPL) featuring e-services for library e-resources and mobile apps, has won the Best Lifestyle (Learning & Living) Gold Award at the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2015.

industry associations and professional bodies. The selection criteria for the Awards included innovation and creativity in information and communications technology, functionality, market potential and

‘Library at Your Fingertips’ consists of both the ‘My Library’ and ‘Multimedia Information’ mobile apps and the thematic page for e-Resources on the library website. All these e-services allow the public to enjoy library services and digital resources anytime and anywhere, and satisfy their demand for information, knowledge and leisure, which demonstrates the concept of a ‘library without walls’.

The ‘My Library’ and ‘Multimedia Information’ apps have various user-oriented functions. The former provides access to personal library accounts; searching for, reserving and renewing of library materials; and locating the nearest libraries through the Global Positioning System. The latter allows users to search the content of the Multimedia Information System (MMIS) of the HKPL, including over 2.5 million pages of digitised images and text in more than 20 digital collections.

Moreover, the e-Resources thematic page houses over 60 electronic databases, 200,000 e-books, one million musical tracks and audio books. Users can enjoy the convenience of online library services and resources with just a few taps on any smartphone or tablet.

The mobile apps are downloadable from Google Play or the App Store for free. Readers can also browse the HKPL website at http://mmis.hkpl.gov.hk to learn more about the MMIS services and at http://www.hkpl.gov.hk/e-resources for the e-Resources thematic page respectively.

Hong Kong Public Libraries (HKPL) website (www.hkpl.gov.hk) was also awarded the bronze prize in the ‘Best .hk Government Website

Award’. This recognition has again demonstrated the popularity of HKPL website and its e-services among the public. The Awards are organized by Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited (HKIRC), with the aim of allowing outstanding .hk websites in different sectors to be awarded and serve as examples for promoting the proper use of Internet and related technologies, showing their contribution and effort in achieving service excellence and meeting business and social needs via the Internet.


閱讀天地 ˙ Reading Corner

閱讀為我們的生活打開一扇窗，讓我們足不出戶，也可

增廣見聞，認識社會，遨遊更遼闊的天地。香港公共圖

書館今年以「閱讀看世界」為主題，舉辦「2015年世界

閱讀日創作比賽」，鼓勵兒童及年青人擴闊閱讀領域，

透過閱讀認識和了解現今世界，建立多角度思考，讓生

活更具智慧。

今屆比賽反應十分踴躍，參加學校超過二百多間，共收到超過一千

三百份作品。初小組藉設計明信片封面，介紹一本能讓他們了解世

界的圖書；高小組透過寫信給家人或老師，介紹一本關於世界不同

地方的人生活或奮鬥的故事，並抒發感受；初中組閱讀有關「智慧

生活」的書籍後，以閱讀報告形式分享感想；高中組則以散文探討

有關全球合作與世界融和的議題。頒獎禮已於四月二十五日在香港

中央圖書館舉行。

今年，香港公共圖書館、深圳圖書館、廣東省立中山圖書館及澳門

中央圖書館繼續進行合作交流，一同以「閱讀看世界」為主題舉辦

創作比賽，攜手宣揚閱讀文化，優勝作品將會在所屬的圖書館展

出。香港及深圳獲獎的同學更於頒獎禮上同場分享他們的閱讀經

驗和心得。

Reading opens a window in our lives, enabling us to advance our knowledge and explore the world without the need to travel. The Hong Kong Public Libraries (HKPL) has organised

.the ‘4 23 World Book Day Creative Competition’ under the theme ‘Read the World’. The competition aims to nurture a good reading habit and an interest in writing among children and young people, and encourage them to learn more about other cultures to expand their global outlook.

An enthusiastic response was received this year with over 1,300 entries from more than 200 schools. The competition consisted of four categories. Junior primary students designed postcard covers to introduce a book in the form of a graphic drawing that also showed their understanding of the world; senior primary students wrote a letter to a teacher or family member to introduce a book and express their feelings about people living in a different culture, including their efforts to strive for improvement; junior secondary students produced a book report on reading materials related to ‘wise living’; and senior secondary students wrote an essay discussing global co-operation and world harmony. The prize presentation ceremony was held on April 25 at Hong Kong Central Library.

This creative competition continues to be part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau library collaboration and exchange programme. The Sun Yat-sen Library of Guangdong Province, Macao Central Library and the Shenzhen Library also joined the event by organising their own competitions on the same theme. Winning students from Hong Kong and Shenzhen shared their reading experiences in the prize presentation ceremony.
