Historical Background

• Inspiration of a bookseller who is called Josep Maria Bocabella

• He had the idea for the project when he got back from the Vatican

• Construction of the Sagrada Família started in 1882 and Antoni Gaudí was involved with the church in 1883

• The church has not been completed due to private funding and was interrupted by the Spanish Civil War.

Structure and Layout

• It has a total of 18 spires with the tallest reaching a height of 560 feet.

• The tallest spire representing Jesus Christ.

• The church has 3 façades or faces, namely the Nativity façade, the Passion façade, and the Glory façade.
