We wish you both a happy and memorable day. You are requested to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the ceremony. The late arrival of one party means the delay of subsequent ceremonies.

In some cases of extreme lateness, the Registrars reserve the right to leave and the ceremony will have to be postponed.

Mae tair ystafell sydd wedi’u cofrestru ar gyfer priodasau a phartneriaethau sifil, yn Neuadd y Dref, Llandudno. Mae pob un ar y llawr gwaelod gyda mynediad hawdd a chyfleusterau ar gyfer pobl llai abl yn gorfforol.

Mae ‘Swyddfa Gofrestru Conwy’ yn ystafell sydd wedi’i dodrefnu yn gain gyda lle i hyd at 15 o bobl. Mae ‘Ystafell Conwy’ eto yn ystafell wedi’i dodrefnu yn dda, gyda lle i hyd at 50 o bobl. Mae ‘Neuadd Ymgynnull’ yn ystafell fawr hardd gyda lle i hyd at 160 o westeion.

The Register Office is situated in the beautiful resort of Llandudno, in the magnificent Town Hall an official grade two listed building located in the heart of the town. There are three rooms registered for marriages and civil partnerships, within the Town Hall, Llandudno. All are situated on the ground floor with easy access and facilities for the less able bodied people.

The ‘Conwy Register Office’ is an elegantly furnished room seating up to 15 people. ‘The Conwy Suite’ is again a very well furnished room seating up to 50 people. ‘The Assembly Room’ is a large nicely presented room seating up to 160 guests.

Marriages and Civil Partnerships held at the Conwy Register Office, Llandudno are at the statutory fee and are conducted on week days and up to 11.30 am on Saturdays.

Marriages held at both the Conwy Suite and the Assembly Room are conducted seven days a week, including Bank holidays there are however additional fees for these facilities. Please ask for further details at the Register Office.

There is also a sweeping staircase close by, which is perfect for photographic opportunities.

Our registration officers are happy to discuss your individual wishes, guide you through the legal formalities for your ceremony and will meet with you beforehand to go through all the arrangements. You will receive professional and friendly advice together with an inspiring touch to make your day special and enjoyable for you and your guests.

Approved Venues

In addition to the Register Office Conwy County has a wonderful range of approved venues licenced for the solemnisation of marriage and civil partnership ceremonies. A separate list of all these venues is enclosed with this brochure. There are some fantastic venues to choose from including country houses, castles, luxurious hotels, and Elizabethan town house. Whatever your choice there is somewhere to suit all tastes and styles of ceremonies. The list of venues is extensive and changes on a regular basis.

To arrange a ceremony at an approved venue in Conwy County you should initially contact the venue of your choice to make a provisional booking. It is essential you then contact the Register Office to ensure registration officers are available to conduct your ceremony at the given date and time, before making further arrangements.

Priodas GrefyddolGellir cynnal priodas grefyddol mewn eglwys neu gapel, naill ai’r Eglwys yng Nghymru neu unrhyw addoldy arall sydd wedi ei gofrestru’n ffurfiol. Os ydych yn priodi mewn eglwys neu addoldy arall, dylech gysylltu â’r gweinidog neu’r offeiriad i ddechrau, a byddant yn eich cynghori ynghylch y drefn briodol i’w dilyn.

Os ydych yn priodi trwy seremoni grefyddol heblaw mewn addoldy’r Eglwys yng Nghymru, bydd rhaid i chi roi rhybudd o’r briodas i’r cofrestrydd arolygol yn yr ardal lle buoch yn byw am saith niwrnod cyn rhoi’r rhybudd.

If you wish to get married in Wales you have the choice of a religious or civil marriage.

Religious MarriageA religious marriage can take place at a church or chapel either of the Church in Wales or at any other place of worship that has been formally registered. If you are getting married in church or any other religious building, you should first contact the minister who will advise you of the procedures.

If you are getting married by religious ceremony other than in the Church in Wales, you will need to give notice of marriage to the superintendent registrar in the district where you have resided for seven day’s prior to giving the notice.

Should you require a registrar to attend your marriage ceremony, please contact Conwy County Register Office as soon as possible to book their attendance.

A civil marriage can take place at the Register Office or at other buildings approved for marriage ceremonies. To book your ceremony you must contact the Register Office for availability, giving sufficient notice for the date and time preferred. If you wish to marry at one of the approved venues, you need firstly to check availability with the venue, then contact the Register Office to ensure registrar’s can attend at your chosen date and time, before making further arrangements.

Os ydych yn bwriadu priodi trwy seremoni sifil yng Nghymru, mae’n rhaid i’r naill a’r llall ohonoch roi rhybudd o’ch bwriad i briodi i’r cofrestrydd arolygol lle rydych yn byw, gan nodi ble rydych yn bwriadu yn priodi. Os ydych yn byw mewn ardaloedd cofrestru gwahanol, mae’n rhaid i’r ddau ohonoch roi rhybudd yn eich ardal eich hun. Mae’n rhaid i chi fod wedi byw yn yr ardal honno am 7 niwrnod clir cyn y gallwch roi rhybudd. Ar ôl i chi wneud hynny, bydd y rhybuddion yn cael eu dangos am 15 niwrnod clir. Yna, os yw’r holl ddogfennau wedi’u derbyn a’u cymeradwyo, byddwch yn cael caniatâd i briodi.

The Register Office in Conwy County is a Designated Register Office at which persons subject to immigration control must give notice of marriage and civil partnership. Please contact the superintendent registrar for advice and details of documents that must be produced.

Legal Preliminaries to Civil Partnership

You must both give notice of your intention to form a civil partnership to the civil partnership registrar in the registration district where you live. If you live in different registration districts, you must each give notice in your respective district.

You must have had residence in the district at least 7 clear days prior to giving notice. After the notices are given, they are publicly displayed for 15 clear days following which the schedule for your civil partnership registration is issued.

Once the notices are given they remain valid for 12 months. The date and time for the formation may be changed within the year, however, if you change the place of the civil partnership two fresh notices must be given. A fee is payable for each notice.

The Civil Partnership Act of 2004 allows same sex couples to obtain legal recognition of their partnership by signing a schedule. To register your civil partnership you must be of the same sex as your partner and not currently married or in a civil partnership. Neither party must be under 16 or within the prohibited degrees of a relationship.

There is no legal requirement for a ceremony as part of the partnership formation. The civil partnership is formed once both parties and their two witnesses have signed the schedule. You may wish to have a ceremony to enhance the occasion and our registration officers would be pleased to advise of choices available.

Civil partnerships can take place at the Register Office or at any of the approved venues in Conwy County.

Each ceremony is personal and different to you both, so you will be given the options available and have input to create a ceremony you will remember and treasure. The ceremony can reflect events in your life together to include an introduction and welcome, readings, poems, acknowledgement of any children of the marriage, renewal of vows, exchange of rings, speeches, presentation of a certificate and closing words.

The ceremony can be held at the Register Office or any of the approved venues in Conwy and will be conducted by a celebrant from the County. The ceremony is designed to be a memorable occasion but has no legal status.

Commitment CeremoniesA ceremony for adult couples wishing to make a public declaration of their lifelong commitment to each other.

The ceremonies are suitable for couples not wishing to enter into legally binding vows of a marriage or civil partnership. As with all of our ceremonies the personal requirements of the couple are catered for within this ceremony.

Adnewyddu Addunedau Priodas

Gall cyplau priod sy’n dymuno adnewyddu eu haddunedau priodas ddewis seremoni ad-newyddu addunedau priodas i ddathlu hynny mewn modd unigryw ac arbennig.

Renewal of Vows Ceremonies

Couples wishing to renew their ceremony vows may choose a renewal of vows ceremony to celebrate in a unique and special way.

The ceremony may commemorate a special anniversary and gives couples the opportunity to renew their commitment to each other in a personal ceremony at a special time in their lives. It might also be held following a difficult or troubled period in a relationship.

If your ceremony was held abroad you can renew your vows in a ceremony in the company of family and friends. You may have had a simple and private marriage ceremony and now want to re-affirm your vows and invite guests who were not present.

A naming ceremony offers a special way to welcome a new baby, child or children into your family, in a way to mark an important and happy occasion. The ceremony may be to celebrate your child’s birth. You can also celebrate joining together children into new family relationships. It is an occasion for parents to welcome an adopted child. Your ceremony will have a special and individual meaning and you will be involved in creating a celebration which reflects your own wishes for the occasion. The ceremony will be fitting to you and can include an introduction and welcome, parents promises, pledges by supporting adults, naming of the child or children with words, poems, readings and music that hold special significance, as well as the presentation of a commemorative certificate that will be yours to keep.

The ceremony can be held at the Register Office or any of the approved venues in Conwy and will be conducted by a celebrant from the County. The ceremony is designed to be a joyful occasion but has no legal status and cannot be used to change a child’s name. Gall ymgeiswyr ddewis dod i seremoni grŵp gyda’u gwesteion. Cynhelir y seremonïau hyn fel arfer yn Siambr y Cyngor, Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy ym Modlondeb, Conwy yn rheolaidd ar ddydd Sadwrn am 10.30am. Gallwn drefnu seremoni unigol ar gais.

Gall staff Swyddfa Gofrestru Sir Conwy roi cyngor am y seremoni, ond ni fyddant yn gallu rhoi cyngor am y broses o ddod yn ddinesydd Prydeinig. Mae’n rhaid gwneud cais yn uniongyrchol i’r Swyddfa Gartref am hynny.

Applicants have a choice of attending with guests at our group ceremonies which are held at the Council Chambers of Conwy County Borough Council at Bodlondeb, Conwy on a regular basis on a Saturday at 10.30 am. Individual ceremonies are arranged upon request.

The Conwy County Register Office can offer advice about the ceremony only and not the process of acquiring citizenship, these applications are made to the Home Office direct.

Nationality Checking ServiceOur nationality checking service offers persons applying for British Citizenship to have their application checked to ensure it is fully completed before submission to the Home Office. Please contact the Register Office for a copy of our information leaflet regarding this service.

Mae’r seremoni’n cwblhau’r broses o ddod yn ddinesydd Prydeinig, lle gofynnir i bob ymgeisydd dyngu llw o deyrngarwch i’r Goron, ym mhresenoldeb y cofrestrydd arolygol. Mae’r seremonïau hyn yn achlysuron arbennig yn Sir Conwy ac fe’u cynhelir yng nghwmni gŵr/gwraig anrhydeddus neu aelod etholedig y Cyngor, a fydd yn croesawu’r dinasyddion newydd i’r Sir ac yn cyflwyno eu Tystysgrif o Ddinasyddiaeth a medal goffaol iddynt.

Successful applicants granted registration as a British Citizen celebrate in Conwy through our citizenship ceremonies.

The ceremony completes the naturalisation process whereupon all applicants for British nationality are required to make a citizenship pledge of oath or allegiance to the Crown, in the presence of the superintendent registrar. The ceremonies in Conwy County are regarded as significant occasions and attended by a civic dignitary or elected member of the Council,who will officially welcome the new citizens into the County and present them with their Certificate of Naturalisation and a commemorative medal.
