英國著名物業發展商Barratt Developments創辦人Sir Lawrie Barratt的孫女兒Fiona Barratt Campbell無忘祖業，處理相類事務。祖父熱愛建築，Fiona卻稍稍偏離航道轉而投向室內設計界，更成立同名公司Fiona Barratt Interiors。

公司創辦於2006年，Fiona處理過多個英國和國際住宅、酒店和商用項目。其中最為人津津樂道的當然是屬於她和丈夫(前阿仙奴和英格蘭足球員Sol Campbell)以及三名孩子擁有的Northumberland樂園Hallington Hall，也是他們閒日逃離倫敦繁忙生活的寶地。

坐落60公頃土地、木林和草地上的喬治王時代田園屋讓Fiona一見鍾情，豐富靈感源自它無盡的可塑性和跟她兒時家居相類的特點。「歷史氣息把我們吸引而至。」Fiona解釋：「我們需要的不只是經濟上的承諾，還牽涉到建築層面，畢竟它是一座二級歷史文物，280年來均由同樣家族擁有。」正因如此，翻新時一定要緊隨嚴厲指引，保留大樓的原有建築特色和風格，但室內裝潢卻可任由Fiona發揮。

As the granddaughter of Sir Lawrie Barratt – founder of one of the most prominent property development companies in the UK, Barratt Developments – building homes runs in Fiona Barratt Campbell’s family. However, where her grandfather favoured construction, Fiona has turned her talents to the conception and realisation of inspiring interiors, through her eponymous company Fiona Barratt Interiors.

Founded in 2006, Fiona has designed numerous residential, hospitality and commercial projects in the UK and internationally. Of these, one stands out as particularly memorable – the Northumberland retreat enjoyed by Fiona, her husband (former Arsenal and England footballer Sol Campbell) and their three children, when they are able to escape their lives in London – Hallington Hall.

Located within 60 acres of formal grounds, woodland and grassland, Fiona immediately fell in love with the impressive Georgian country house, inspired by its endless potential and its proximity to her childhood home. "The history drew me in," explains Fiona. "It was an enormous undertaking, not only financially but architecturally, as it is Grade II listed and had been in the same family for its entire 280-year history." As a Grade ll listed property, strict guidelines had to be adhered to when renovating to ensure that the architectural features and character of the building were preserved, but the interiors were Fiona’s to do with as she pleased.

Set within more than 60 acres of stunning natural surroundings, Hallington Hall was the first unforti-fied property to be build in Northumberland and remained in the same family for 280 years before interior designer Fiona Barratt Campbell and her husband, former Arsenal and England football player Sol Campbell, purchased it.

hallway, where textures, materials and fabrics unite.

Fiona’s bold, signature style draws influence from the natural world and exploits the opulence of texture. "For me, nature and travel are the most important and lucrative forms of inspiration," she discloses. "You can never tire of the ever changing patterns, colours and textures that nature produces." Having honed this strong aesthetic through previous projects, Hallington Hall gave Fiona the opportunity to really expand her creative horizons.

Despite her modernist spirit, she was adamant that the home’s stately period features, such as parquet flooring and cornicing, should be retained, celebrating the heritage of the house that it would be ruinous to deny. Appointments were designed specifically for the space, conceived to be both sensitive to their surroundings and to standout in their own right. occupation, hard-fought medieval battles and the Industrial Revolution – finds a home in elements of Fiona’s contemporary creations, with everything from the monolithic-inspired Housestead console to the handles on kitchen cabinets hearkening back to the annals of the area. To further honour her homeland, Fiona worked with local artisans, where possible, to create the wardrobes, doors and bookcases.

Where Fiona’s eye truly excels is in evoking a mood, largely through her unconventional yet balanced use of materials, finishes and fabrics, which, she believes, "Adds a real sense of warmth, character and calmness to a room." Take one of the abode’s three reception rooms, where metallics bearing the patina of time mingle with chocolate-hued oak and a plush pile carpet in neutral tones of lilac-tinged grey. Elsewhere, in the elegant antechamber, traditional velvet armchairs and Chinese drum stools complement the Oswald side table, crafted from timber and bronze in the image of a Roman shield.

IN pURsUIT Of pLEAsURE

A sleek red armchair provides a pop of colour in the moody and masculine games room, replete with a framed pair of Sol's football boots. Fiona designed both the chair and the side table, which recalls fossil forma-tions and other patterns found in nature.

BATHE IN BEAUTY

Antique inspirations and clean contemporary lines combine in one of the home's bathrooms, which also features a fireplace for cosy winter nights. 沉醉其中古董氣質與簡約線條成了這睡房的基調，當中建有火爐抵禦寒冬。

An advocate of sophisticated maximalism, Fiona’s home succeeds in breaking unwritten home decor rules, and, ultimately, takes great pleasure in doing so. In the kitchen, different types of metal and marble defy expectations to unite in harmony, while crystal light fixtures cast dreamlike shadows down hallway ceilings, at the same time illuminating a collection of ceramic beetles collected on the family’s travels. Indeed, there are rooms dedicated to the pursuit of leisure, such as the cinema room and games room. In the latter, a distinctly masculine palette of moody greys and browns sets the scene, which is overlooked by a photorealistic painting of Sol.

Of the finished product, Fiona is justifiably proud. "It was a real journey," she admits. "But not on easy one, so actually you appreciate the finished home even more. Also, my husband and I were creating a family home. In fact, we even held our wedding reception in the garden, so it has a lot of very special memories for us."

Throughout this vast property – which still remains one of the largest projects Fiona has worked on – it becomes evident that scale is something that serves her, and her cultivated aesthetic, well. Not only does it perform as testament to her talents, it’s also an envy-inducing family home. //
