The innovating profile SA180x68/70 is especially suitable for euro pallet handling. Thanks to its functionality
and manufacturing process, the SA180 has become a telescopic fork extremely versatile, reliable, robust,
and precise. It is possible to affirm that because Eurofork use the components that follow:
Fleyer chains with a nominal pitch of 9.525 mm, maximum pin diameter equal to 3.59 mm and 2x2
composition;
Nitrided gears with a diameter of 63 and 78 millimeters having a module equal to 3;
Transmission group with double bearings.
With its enlarged fixed body, the SA180 has many advantages:
The internal chain transmissions improve system dynamics;
The sensors are positioned into the frame, so they are protected from dirty and grit;
The accessibility of components permit an easier maintenance and fast replace possibility.
The typical applications foresee lengths from 1200 to 1350 mm up to 1200 Kg per set (of 2 forks) and it is
possible to work in applications with suction cups. The stroke control is typically made by encoder in the
forks axis (Z) and photocells for the central position control, but if requested it is possible to use proximity
and limit switches. The forks have rack-gear and chains with special constant tension system insuring
precision and reliability. We are available to provide optimal solutions for the needs of our clients.

The SA180 is a fork particularly suitable for euro pallet handling. Nevertheless, it is possible to use it for a
lot of different applications. As you could see in the table above, there are only two fixed parameters that
are those reflect the effective overall dimensions of the mobile part of the fork. The first one is the height H
of the mobile slides that is equal to 68 or 70 millimeters respectively for the SA180x68 and the SA180x70.
The second one is the upper slide width USW that is equal to 180 millimeters. The name of the fork include
these two values for a better and faster understanding of the kind of fork. The other parameters can be
varied into specific ranges that were introduced in the same table.
The distance between fork DBF is a fixed parameter only for the euro pallet (372 mm). For other
applications it is possible to vary this distance into wide limits. There is also the possibility to product forks
with variable distance between forks (this could be obtained by moving only one or both forks) with the
addition of one gear motor and varying some structural elements.
Eurofork products could also have a lift system that is usually requested when the forks are mounted on
shuttles, AGVs or when the forks are used in other applications.
The DIN15146 establish that the maximum admissible load Q for euro pallet is 1200 kg. This value could be
exceeded in case of different load units but the load is in inverse proportion to the maximum stroke
permitted. Eurofork produce also the modified model of SA180, called “type R”; this fork could carry a load
of 1500 kg because it have bigger wheels mounted on the limit of the fixed body.
Obviously, higher loads corresponds to higher deflection of the fork when the sliding parts are at stroke.
Here there is an example of this fact that have to be taken into account.
