Face To Face
Selma Gulbahce
Historical Ar3st Research Diana Arbus
A young man in curlers at home on West 20th Street, N.Y.C., 1966. This image doesn't have a Btle or a name to it, also its a portrait taken in a house. I think Diana Arbus has influenced this sort of photograph from the lack of confidence people gain. Arbus has a liKle comment under this image on the website ‘As viewers we oNen want to look at the images, but we also want to turn away due to embarrassment, shame or an inability to connect with the person pictured’. I think the messages of this image is not to be shamed of yourself no maKer what you look like an how you feel like

The name of this image is called Twiggy. It was Vogues front cover in the 1967’s. its a portrait of the young model which was taken in a studio. This magazine cover looks like its for a fashion photo shoot.
Mind map of ideas of self These are few images that i inspired my final pictures from. I used plan backgrounds and a bit of face paint , and also a picture of a celebrity.
Mind Map Of Other I was planning to use my friend for
my project. And also I wonted to use a white studio with different style make up.

John Swannell And David Bailey These was one of the photos that I really liked from the gallery. This assisted self-‐portrait was taken in 1971, aNer a session photographing the Milan fashion collecBons for Italian Vogue. Other important sessions in which Swannell assisted Bailey appear in the book Goodbye Baby and Amen (1969).
Jeremy Rata Born in 1959, BriBsh photographer Jeremy Rata is an accredited sports photographer and has had numerous images published in the BriBsh press. He combines photography with running a country house hotel and sporBng estate in Devon This photo was one of the other images i liked. This image is from the series and book (Afghans Faces) a series of portraits of the ordinary people affected by the living in Afghanistan this images was taken in August 2010. This portrait was commissioned as one of the images for inclusion in the book Afghan faces. Author John Casson and the photographer were researching in Kabul and paid the guards to enter the ruined palace. Once inside they met two off duty sentries and asked them to pose by the collapsed main staircase. The men were reluctant as they were not wearing protecBve boots

Exhibi3on Photos
EvaluaBon I think this picture is very strong, because the photography is balanced and also the message on the image is very strong it is aimed at teenagers that hope to find courage, also this images is going to be used at a care house to courage the people and to put this message across . On my back I had a bikkini line, I removed it with photoshop. I chose to make the photo in black and white because them colours make the wriBng bold which makes it a central point, it makes it the main focus. I chose to put the subject in the centre of the frame because the middle is the main area to caught a readers aKenBon My weaknesses is the background which I could of improved on a white studio. The clothing that I am wearing which shouldn’t show and could have been cut with cropping but I didn’t do that because if I did the picture wouldn’t look right, it would have been half of my body missing and the lighBng could have been used beKer. The image could have been taken in a beKer angle The photo was taken with a Fuji J.30 and the exposure was 1/10 second at F2.9. the ASA sefng was 800 ASA. The subject was fit with a mixture of arBficial lighBng and daylight from a window. Also I have inspired this image from a arBst called Barbara Kruger. I love his work, he uses wriBng to express feelings, he aKaches the wriBng with the images. Another arBst I inspired was Man Ray, he also uses body parts too, but Rays images looked sexual, when quick frankly it has nothing to do with sexuality its just a different way of him expressing his messages.
