R EFLECTING ON MY TIME at First Light Care, I realise that it is such a privilege to be

involved in the ministry for the past 10 years.

Before my involvement, my understanding of First Light Care was rather limited. I had heard about the ministry from my church and I knew they did some good work in the Chinese community. When the invitation came to serve on the Management Committee 10 years ago, I jumped at the opportunity. I thought it would be a good way to leverage what I had been learning in my profession to serve the community. And while there is definitely an element of that in my role as Secretary, I realise I have gained far more from my involvement than I have ever given. In particular, three things stand out.

Firstly, being a management consultant, I have witnessed how, in the commercial world, stress can take its toll on people. Serving in FLC has led me to be more sensitive to the importance of mental health, and the need to prevent or deal with the stress inevitably coming from managing a career while balancing the needs of family, self, and other responsibilities.

Secondly, FLC has opened my eyes to the role of being a disciple of Jesus Christ. If we are to truly show our love to our neighbour, we need to foster social justice and show mercy to

our community (Micah 6). This is in FLC’s vision, and by partnering with Chinese churches in Sydney, counselling and education services are provided to those in our community who are going through tough times.

Thirdly, FLC plays a special role in the Chinese community. Whether we are first or second generation migrants to this great country, our cultural background shapes our identity, values and needs. I especially applaud the effort of our professional team, who tirelessly provide counselling services and education seminars in various languages (Cantonese, Mandarin, English).

Looking forward, with the increasing number of Chinese ethnics moving to and living in Australia, and the increased complexity of our modern society, I see an increasing need for this ministry, especially in the Mandarin language group. I strongly encourage you to get involved in our ministry, such as getting in touch (e.g. subscribe to our newsletter), praying for us, sharing our ministry with your friends and family, supporting us financially, participating in our seminars, and serving our community directly with us!

光陰似箭，歲月如梭，不經不覺我參與晨

光事奉已有十年，委實感到十分榮幸。

起初我對晨光事工不甚了了，只知它是個幫助

華人的社區組織。及至被邀請加入行政委員會

擔任秘書一職，我義不容辭，一口答應，希

望自己在職場的經驗與知識有助晨光事工的發

展。誠然，在這十年間，我獲益良多，並且遠

超我所付出的。

首先，作為一名管理顧問，我曾經親眼目睹

在商業世界中，人們承受著何其巨大的壓力。

在晨光服務使我對心理健康的重要性更加敏

感，並看到能積極地預防及應對因平衡家庭與

工作、個人和其他日常生活所帶來的壓力的需

要。

第二，在晨光服侍讓我明白如何作耶穌基督

Dr. Winnie Chan (Counsellor/SpiritualDirector)WinniegraduatedfromtheUniversityofAlabama,U.S.A.in1994withaMaster’sDegreeinSocialWork,specializinginmentalhealth.ShealsoobtainedaDiplomaandMaster'sDegreeinChristianStudiesfromtheChinaGraduateSchoolofTheologyin2002and2008respectively. In order to help people with more comprehensive perspective, she pursued a DoctoralDegreeinMinistry(SpiritualDirection)atGraduateTheologicalFoundation,U.S.A.and completed the course in 2017.

Winnie has solid and extensive experience in counselling, social work, training and teaching for over 25 years, serving both in the public sector and the commercial field with different industries, all levels of clients and various family, individual and work-related issues.ShemovedbacktoSydneyin2018andstartedanotherjourneyinrespondingtoher calling in life, to continuously walk with those who are in need.

Cherrie is passionate in walking alongside and helping others in their struggles and pain. Sheiscommittedtoprovideasafe,supportiveandprofessionalcounsellingserviceandsheenjoysworkingwithclientsofallages.Shehasexperienceinworkingwithchildrenand helping parents/carers to build up resilient children and strong family relationships. 陳謝麗婷博士 (輔導員/心理諮詢師/靈命導師)

Winnie 於1994年畢業於美國阿拉巴馬大學，獲得社會工作碩士學位，專攻精神健康。她還分別於2002年和2008年獲頒中國神學研究院的基督教研究文憑和碩士學位。為了提供更全

面的幫助，她於美國研究生神學基金會攻讀教牧學博士學位 

(靈命導引)，並於2017年完成該課程。

Winnie 在輔導、社會工作、培訓和教學方面擁有超過25年的豐富經驗，曾於公營機構和私營跨國企業提供服務，當中包

括來自不同行業，各個社會階層及面對各種家庭、個人和工

作相關問題的人士。她於2018年定居悉尼，開始另一段回應她生命中受呼喚的旅程，繼續與有需要的人同行。

廖郭冠姿女士 (輔導員/心理諮詢師)

Cherrie 出生於香港，17歲時移居悉尼。她在新英格蘭大學獲得了心理學社會科學(榮譽)學士學位。在此之前，她在Morling College 完成了輔導研究生文憑，在新南威爾士大學完成了商業碩士學位，也在悉尼科技大學完成了商業學士學位。

Cherrie 熱衷於幫助他人，更會用心聆聽受助人的掙扎和痛苦。她致力於提供安全和專業的輔導/諮詢服務支持各個年齡

的人。Cherrie 亦擁有豐富教育兒童及幫助父母牢固家庭關係的經驗。Cherrie 與丈夫德政有兩個兒女(11歲和8 歲)。他們參與位於Castle Hill 的 Life Church 的聚會。
