A Farsi Poem by Imam-i Rabbani (1564-1624)

Har ruz bashi sa'iman har layl bashi qa'imanDar zikr bashi da'iman mashgul sho dar zikr-e Hu

Spend every day fasting and every night praying,

Be Allah conscious and engage yourself in His remembrance.

Gar ayesh khwahi jawidan izzat be-khwahi dar jahanEin zikr-e hu har an be-khwan mashgul sho dar zikr-e Hu

If you desire honour and endless bliss,

Always engage yourself in His remembrance.

Suday nadarad khoftanat nachar bayad raftanatDar gour tanha mandat mashgul sho dar zikr-e Hu

Slumber is useless, life is temporary,All alone in your grave, engage yourself in His remembrance.

Hu, hu be- zikerish sazkun name-e khuda aghaz kun

Kofl ze senay bazkun masghul sho dar zikr-e Hu

Make music with His name and begin to,

Unlock your heart, engage yourself in His remembrance.

Ilm bekhwani ba-amal farda nabashi ta khajalDar pesh qadir-e lamyazl mashgul sho dar zikr-e Hu

Seek knowledge today and tomorrow you will not be disgraced,

Before Allah al-mighty, engage yourself in His remembrance.

Har dam khudara yadkun delha-e ghamghin shadkun

Bobol seft faryadkun mashgul sho dar zikr-e Hu

Always remember Allah and bring joy to your aching heart,

Lament like a nightingale and engage yourself in His remembrance.

Maskin Ahmad mard sho dar jomla alam fard sho

Dar rah-e haqq chun gardsho masghul sho dar zikr-e Hu

Poor Ahmad, become exceptional, be a speck of dust,

In the way of the Truth, engage yourself in His remembrance.
